Call It Love (2023) Recap Episode 4

Mar 3, 2023

After revealing the truth to Young-min, Woo-joo opens up about everything to Yoon Jun, annoyed at the fact that she looks so different from the day of the funeral that Hee-ja didn’t even recognise her. But even then, she is left shocked that Hee-ja totally forgot about her and her father. Either way, Jun validates her feeling and her actions but asks her to stop getting involved further.

Meanwhile, having Ju-ho backed out of the deal, Sun-woo and Dong-jin are left scrambling to figure out what happened to him. Unfortunately, they can’t find him at home, and Sun-woo asks Dong-jin to have fun instead of going back into the office. Dong-jin, instead, decides to go back home but is met by Hae-sung, who ambushes him on the road and blabbers on about random things.

In the end, she does end up convincing him to have a drink with her and Ji-gu. The evening looks just so uncomfortable for him, even more so when Woo-joo gets there as well. The latter looks absolutely mortified when she realises that he is there as well. Things get even more awkward when Woo-joo almost has a breakdown, and she drags him out of the restaurant. She asks him whether he has dated Hae-sung, and after realising that he hasn’t, asks rudely tells him to leave.

Thankfully, Dong-jin asks her whether she feels happy saying everything that is on her mind all the time because she doesn’t even think about whether her words hurt others. He further tells her that some people don’t hold back because they are dumb but because they know how much words can hurt others. He huffs off after this, leaving Woo-joo shocked.

That night, Hae-sung gives an almost perfect rundown of Dong-jin to Woo-joo, letting her know that Dong-jin isn’t a bad guy and that he’s been hurt pretty badly before this. On the other hand, Min-young wonders whether she should truly meet Dong-jin and ask for his forgiveness to stop running finally.

Meanwhile, Dong-jin thinks back to his breakup with Min-young wherein she sprung her impending nuptials on him during a camping trip. Even though he asked her to discuss this at home so as not to ruin his one hobby for him, Min-young proceeded just to tell him everything then and there, leaving him heartlessly to mull over everything by himself.

Back in the present, it turns out that Min-young and Dong-jin might be neighbours without their own knowledge.

The next morning, Young-min learns that Sung-man has nabbed Ju-ho for his fair, and thus he will be backing out of the deal. Meanwhile, Dong-jin and Woo-joo have another awkward conversation in the break room, and he asks her whether she is angry with him about something. She opposes that notion, and he mentions that he has gotten used to her way of talking. Meanwhile, Sun-woo finally learns that Ju-ho has decided to pull out of their fair.

After lunch, Dong-jin and Sun-woo overhear Woo-joo telling Hae-sung that she hates Dong-jin because he looks pitiful from the back as if he is carrying all of his feelings and problem there. It’s awkward when they realise that the men are there as well, and the sisters make a quick exit after Woo-joo digs her heels in and tells the two that there’s nothing wrong with calling him pitiful.

After work that day, Woo-joo gets called by Young-min to dinner, who tells her to find another job since the company will go under sooner rather than later. However, the information doesn’t seem to leave her thrilled. On the other hand, during a conversation with Sun-woo, it is revealed that Min-young does know that Dong-jin lives in the opposite apartment because she lived there before moving to the US.

After almost getting caught outside the building, a heartbroken Min-young cries in her apartment as Dong-jin goes into his.

The next day, Woo-joo seems a bit remorseful at so many people losing their jobs thanks to Young-min and Sung-man. She tries to do the right thing but realises that Dong-jin has gone to talk to Ju-ho. At Ju-ho’s Dong-jin’s emotional speech about his past and what it feels like to be stabbed in the back by those he trusts leaves Ju-ho heartbroken as well. Meanwhile, as it turns out, Min-young goes to meet Sung-man to learn of his grand plans.

When she is unable to get in touch with Sun-woo, she makes a desperate attempt to meet him at the office and comes across Dong-jin. He immediately looks ill at the sight and starts getting flashbacks while breaking down on the stairs. However, he simply walks out of the building with Min-young following him. Woo-joo witnesses the entire thing as well.

When she finally does catch up to him, Dong-jin asks him how she can stand in front of him – if anything, she should be running in the opposite direction to show him the least bit of respect. When she tells him that she needs to tell him about where she is staying, he calls her selfish and says that people like her never change.

Call It Love EPisode 4 Ending

That night, after having one too many drinks, Dong-jin breaks a few glasses on the floor and then cuts his hands on the broken glass before telling Sun-woo that there is a reason why he never told anyone anything. That people don’t forget the things that she has done to him, concluding his heartbreaking rant by saying that his life is truly pathetic.

Frustrated, he starts walking out into the street, right into an oncoming car, until Woo-joo pulls him away from danger just in time. Dong-jin’s physical state leaves her a bit confused, and she stops screaming at him for not being more careful on the road.

Call It Love Episode 4 Review

Still From Call It Love Episode 4 Still From Call It Love Episode 4

Apart from the continued problem of the mysterious colour grading, Call It Love episode 4 really tugged on my heartstrings. Although pitiful, it is almost maddening to watch Dong-jin getting pushed around by those around him. At least Woo-joo is honest with her disdain for him – I can’t say the same for those whom he holds near and dear.

I less I say about Min-young, the better. There is no pity to be had for cheaters, and I am assuming that her marriage tanked, and thus she is back home running after the one whom she decided to destroy emotionally. It’s just annoying watching her crying.

We see less of Woo-joo, which I am thankful for. Watching her constantly being mean for no reason is getting on my nerves, but maybe she will get more of an arc if she tells Dong-jin what she knows about Sung-man and Young-min’s plans.

Either way, episode 4 was better; at least I found something to latch on to. Maybe if Dong-jin shows some more personality, it’ll be a better fair. Actually, everyone can probably do that in this show.
