“Broker” Nominated For Outstanding International Motion Picture At 54th NAACP Image Awards

“Broker” has been nominated at the 2023 NAACP Image Awards!

The NAACP Image Awards are an annual American awards ceremony presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) that celebrates outstanding performances in 10 broad categories: recording; motion pictures; TV & streaming; documentary; writing; directing; literary; podcast; hair, make up and costume; and outstanding social media.

At this year’s 54th NAACP Image Awards, “Broker,” the first-ever Korean film made by Japanese director Koreeda Hirokazu, has been nominated for Outstanding International Motion Picture! The film is nominated alongside “Athena,” “Bantú Mama,” “Learn to Swim,” and “The Silent Twins.”

Starring Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, IU, Bae Doona, and Lee Joo Young, “Broker” tells the story of baby boxes, which are set up for people who are no longer able to provide for their babies to anonymously give them up.

Last year, Song Kang Ho won Best Actor at the 75th Cannes Film Festival for his role in “Broker,” making him the first Korean male ever to win an acting award at the historic film festival. Just 10 days after the official theater release of “Broker” last June, the cast and crew celebrated the film surpassing 1 million moviegoers.

Voting for most NAACP categories will run until February 10, but the winner of Outstanding International Motion Picture will not be determined by public voting. The 54th NAACP Image Awards will be held on February 25 local time, while winners of non-televised categories will be announced from February 20 to 24.
