Episode 6 of A Time Called You begins with Jun-hee missing the bus and flagging Si-heon to stop his scooter. She threatens to hit him, holds him closely and makes him hurry, a stark contrast to Min-ju nervously accepting Si-heon and In-gyu’s help. This time it is Si-heon getting nervous at her closeness.
At school, In-gyu and Jun-hee get along well for the tutoring and Si-heon feels left out. He rushes out and bumps into the boy who looks like Chan-yeong. His things fall and there is a butterfly drawing. Alone, he looks at Min-ju’s photos that he has and shrugs.
During the tutoring, In-gyu remembers Min-ju petting a cat and taking care of it. He calls Jun-hee to pet a stray nearby but she says she is afraid of cats. He is stunned and later asks what happened that changed her personality drastically. She feels for him and tells him to trust her as the old Min-ju will be back soon. Nearby, Chan-yeong 2.0 overhears and smirks.
At home, Do-hun says Mom is busy and the siblings go out to eat. He says he ran that night because he heard about the custody fight and Min-ju crying. He tries to brush it off and Jun-hee is touched that he wanted to help his sister.
During free period, Jun-hee asks for Si-heon’s help with maths. He catches her staring and they are flustered. Turns out this is why she didn’t ask him to tutor her because she keeps getting distracted by his face which looks like her ex’s. Meanwhile, poor Si-heon has completely fallen for Jun-hee.
Later, Si-heon gets a love note from the ‘prettiest girl’ and both he and In-gyu think it’s from Jun-hee. However, it turns out to be Da-hyeon who confesses to Si-heon. Jun-hee spots In-gyu eavesdropping and joins him. Si-heon rejects Da-hyeon and it seems he is disappointed that it was no Min-ju.
But there is one line in his rejection to Da-hyeon that shocks Jun-hee – “I am waiting for my destiny and it is not you.” Turns out, Yeon-jun had said the same thing when a popular girl confessed to him back when he and Jun-hee were in college.
Jun-hee soon finds photos of herself on her desk. The boys think the photographer could be the culprit. She comes up with a plan to find him by asking in the neighbourhood if anyone has seen a schoolboy with a camera. Her plan is interrupted as the school takes them to a park for an art competition. Si-heon sulks that Jun-hee is hanging out with In-gyu.
Meanwhile, she keeps asking where Si-heon is to In-gyu. She later finds Si-heon alone and pokes fun at him as he says he only needs 10 minutes to draw. She takes out grass from his hair and they suddenly lock eyes. It starts raining and they run for shelter. Si-heon smiles as he watches the scene of Jun-hee running in the rain with trees on either side – the same as Yeon-jun’s painting.
On the way home, In-gyu sulks as he saw them in the park. The boys walk her home and Chi-won thinks one of them is dating Jun-hee. The boys get awkward and leave. Si-heon finally confesses to In-gyu that he likes Min-ju but he won’t tell her. In-gyu thinks he is pitying him but Si-heon says it is because he is moving away to USA next year. He adds that Min-ju is not interested in him anymore and In-gyu doesn’t believe it.
At home, Si-heon tells his mom he doesn’t want to move but lets it go. He recalls Jun-hee running in the rain and draws the scene. Things are tense between the boys in school while Da-hyeon takes a photo of Jun-hee changing during PE period. Later, Jun-hee senses the tension and asks Si-heon. When he doesn’t answer she asks In-gyu.
It escalates as he asks how she would feel about Si-heon if he said he liked her. Si-heon overhears and tries to get In-gyu to stop. Seeing Jun-hee’s reaction, In-gyu realises that she knows about Si-heon moving away. He is upset and says he wants space from them.
On her way home, Jun-hee walks by the park and spots Si-heon alone. He thinks she is upset about the fight and tells her not to worry as he will handle it. But she is mad at him for making her keep his secret and getting In-gyu angry at her. They are shocked at each other’s reactions and scoff.
But Si-heon runs back to her and confesses that he likes her. She hopes he is making a mistake and he says they have anyway been more than friends for a while now.
Honestly, even if we don’t get Min-ju back, doubt it is a loss. Jun-hee is much more interesting and fun to watch. She is bubbly and cheerful, she retorts back and is always livening up the mood as evident throughout episode 6 of A Time Called You.
And the theory that Si-heon is actually Yeon-jun just keeps getting stronger by the minute. What does he mean by his confession that they have been more than friends for a while? Is he referring to them being closer after Jun-hee possessed Min-ju or their relationship in the 21st century?
By the way, we are halfway into the K-drama and the fluffy filler is all good. We could watch Jeon Yeon-been be a dork the whole show. But then don’t lead us on with such a promising mystery and then forget about it. The pacing for the murder-plane crash arc is really slow and you best believe the writers are going to cram it all into the last episode and rush it if they don’t change their ways now.
