Episode 5 of A Good Day To Be A Dog starts with Seo-won thinking about his date with Hae-na and how she protected him when he was afraid of a dog. He looks at the dog keychain that Hae-na gave him and thinks about her attempts to get him over his fear of dogs. He types a text out to thank Hae-na but does not send the text over.
Instead, Hae-na gets a text from Bo-kyeom. Since Hae-na is in dog form, Woo-taek and Yu-na open the text and are shocked when Bo-kyeom compares Hae-na to a puppy. The two wonder if Bo-kyeom knows the truth about her but eventually realise that Bo-kyeom and Hae-na often bond over their love for dogs.
The next morning, the Vice Principal tells Bo-kyeom that their school has been awarded as the winner of the School Violence Prevention Campaign. He is proud of the fact that there were no school bullies in Garam High School. Bo-kyeom politely asks the Vice Principal to get off his high horse.
Meanwhile, Bo-kyeom and Seo-won spot Hae-na. Instead of talking to them, Hae-na goes in a different direction. Bo-kyeom asks Seo-won if he’s up to something with Hae-na and the math teacher does not deny the allegations. Hae-na, on the other hand, is confused by her own reaction when she sees the male teachers.
Han Jae-hee, a student at the school and a member of the committee that won the contest, asks Hae-na if she has seen Seo-won and Bo-kyeom. The group of students try to convince Seo-won and Bo-kyeom to be a part of the new video they were filming for another competition.
Seo-won notices how the group of girls were being mean to a girl named – Ji-won. That night, Seo-won asks Yul about Ji-won. Yul asks him how he feels about Miss Yoon being declared as the ideal type of woman among the female teachers at the school. Hae-na is also upset with the results because she lost to Miss Yoon.
The next day, Hae-na tries not to seem too upset about the results while sticking bulletins on the notice board with Seo-won. Seo-won tries to cheer her up by saying coming second in the competition was not too bad but Hae-na is oddly still upset about it. Later that day, Seo-won finds Jae-hee and her friends bullying Ji-won in the locker room.
The group lies to Seo-won stating they were filming a video for the anti-bullying campaign run by the school. Ji-won unwillingly agrees with Jae-hee to stop Seo-won from creating a scene. Seo-won goes to the staff room to meet Miss Yoon and tell her all about the incident as Ji-won was the supervisor of the club.
Meanwhile, Song-yi hints that Seo-won and Miss Yoon have something going on between them while teasing Hae-na for flirting with Bo-kyeom. Miss Yoon tells Seo-won that she spoke to Ji-won about the incident and confirmed that the students were just rehearsing for their video.
Seo-won is adamant that something is wrong and decides to intervene. The vice principal scolds Seo-won for making a mountain out of a molehill in the staff room. After school, Bo-kyeom talks to Seo-won about the incident and asks him not to beat himself up due to the comment made by the vice principal. Hae-na also grows suspicious of Jae-hee and her friends.
That evening, Ji-won hides out in the storage room to avoid being bullied by Jae-hee and her friends. Hae-na and Seo-won find her there and try to help her out. Seo-won gets emotional when he hears how Ji-won started getting bullied by her classmates after she took part in the anti-bullying campaign. Seo-won and Hae-na take the video to the school faculty and tell the Vice Principal that Ji-won, the victim had come out to expose the bully.
The vice principal is annoyed by the fact that Seo-won was still pushing the topic when their school was awarded as the winner of the School Violence Prevention Campaign. Seo-won yells at the vice principal in Ji-won’s defence and gets emotional again. He rushes outside and sobs in silence when Hae-na shows up there and consoles him. Hae-na’s words resonate with Seo-won and he tells her how he was also bullied when he was younger.
A flashback shows a group of Seo-won’s high school classmates beating him up and threatening him with a dog. Present-day Seo-won narrates that his fear of dogs stems from that incident and how he tried avoiding the incident for so many years. Hae-na decides to give Seo-won some space but the latter holds on to her and sobs.
That night, Hae-na decides to prove to the vice principal that Jae-hee is a bully and steals her phone after she turns into a dog. The next day, Hae-na turns in the video of Jae-hee and her friends bullying Ji-won found on Jae-hee’s phone. Seo-won confronts Jae-hee about her actions and threatens her with repercussions for her actions.
After the investigation, Jae-hee is kicked out of a movie she was supposed to be a part of because of the bullying video evidence. Jae-hee gets furious and is upset with Seo-won for outing her. She asks her friends to meet her outside a local convenience store that night.
Hae-na overhears the conversation and decides to go there too. Hae-na, who has already transformed into a dog by then, overhears the conversation wherein Jae-hee tells her friends that she is going to falsely accuse Seo-won of sexual assault. Yu-na and Woo-taek also find out about Jae-hee’s plans from a video recording captured by the pet camera worn by Hae-na.
At school, Jae-hee asks Seo-won to meet her at a park because she wants to talk to him. Yu-na and Woo-taek tell Yul all about Jae-hee’s plan and show up at the park with Hae-na, who had turned into a dog. Jae-hee asks her friends to film her conversation with Seo-won and tries to come onto him but Hae-na shows up there. Upon seeing a dog, Seo-won starts panicking and runs away.
Yul takes Seo-won back home and tells him all about Jae-hee’s plan. Yul lies to his uncle and tells him that the dog is Cocoa, his friend’s pet who had captured a video of Jae-hee and her friends plotting against Seo-won. Meanwhile, Jae-hee grows concerned that the same dog who had snatched her phone has shown up at a park.
She chases after Hae-na but Bo-kyeom shows up out of nowhere and threatens Jae-hee instead. He warns her about causing harm to Seo-won’s reputation and scares Jae-hee by threatening to beat her up for her actions. Jae-hee gets scared and runs away while Yu-na and Woo-taek finally find Hae-na and take her back home.
The next day, Jae-hee’s friends are punished with volunteering work while Jae-hee is suspended. Miss Yoon warns the group against getting into trouble again. Meanwhile, Seo-won finally tells Hae-na that only picked Miss Yoon as the ideal type of woman over her but Hae-na teases Seo-won about it for a bit.
She asks Yul to help her break the curse again that night as she is pressed for time. Yul talks to Seo-won and tells him that his friend’s dog, Cocoa had no place to stay for a while. He asks for his uncle’s permission to bring the dog over for the night and Seo-won eventually agrees after recalling how the dog had helped him.
Yu-na and Woo-taek bring Hae-na over to Seo-won and Yul’s house that night. However, instead of staying up to help Hae-na find the right moment to kiss Seo-won, Yul falls asleep throughout the night. The next morning, Hae-na wakes up and leaves the house dressed in Yul’s clothes. However, the episode ends with Seo-won grabbing Hae-na by the shoulder, assuming she is Yul.
It was so emotional to see Seo-won break down in front of Hae-na. Now that she finally knows the reason for his fear of dogs, I hope Hae-na tries to help Seo-won overcome the fear slowly instead of pushing herself on him in order to break the curse.
Yul’s inability to stay awake through the night is concerning and he really is of no help to Hae-na. He keeps putting our “dog girl” into trouble every single time and I hope Hae-na finds a better partner in crime. It would’ve been more productive for Hae-na to just come clean about her curse and tell Seo-won about it considering how she feels about him.
It also looks like Bo-kyeom has supernatural abilities and I wonder what his role would be in the relationship between Hae-na and Seo-won. He tries to save Seo-won and Hae-na this time but it also looks like he is against Hae-na. We will only find out as the episodes progress.
