JTBC’s “The One and Only” is heading into the final two episodes of its thrilling and emotional run!
“The One and Only” is a unique drama starring Ahn Eun Jin, Red Velvet’s Joy, and Kang Ye Won as three terminally ill women who meet at a hospice. They decide that before they die, they want to take down one bad guy before they go—and in their attempt to do so, Pyo In Sook (Ahn Eun Jin) winds up meeting “the one and only” most valuable person of her life (played by Kim Kyung Nam).
With just two episodes left to go, here are three key questions that need to be answered:
Previously on “The One and Only,” Sung Mi Do (Joy) thought that she had finally found love and happiness when her longtime crush, chaebol heir Goo Ji Pyo (Han Kyu Won), proposed to her. However, when his father suddenly broke off their engagement, she felt as though her world had come crashing down all at once, even after Goo Ji Pyo reassured her that he still cared about her.
However, Sung Mi Do’s world was soon shaken once more—this time by an even more devastating realization. While going through his phone, she ended up seeing the video with which Shin Tae Il (Ahn Chang Hwan) was blackmailing him: the proof that he was the one responsible for running a child pornography website.
As the video is also important evidence that Goo Ji Pyo was involved in Ha Yong Geun (Baek Hyun Jin)’s murder, it remains to be seen what Sung Mi Do will do now that she holds the key to the case.
During his days as a contract killer, Min Woo Chun (played by Kim Kyung Nam) had no qualms or guilt about killing. He only accepted contracts where the target was proven to be a bad person, and as someone who had a bleak view of life, he felt no remorse about his work. However, that all changed when he met Pyo In Sook and fell in love. For the first time in his life, he felt shame and regret about the things he’d done, and he wanted to redeem himself and seek forgiveness.
Knowing all too well that he was incriminating himself by doing so, Min Woo Chun still chose to hand over Narae Cleaning’s ledger to Detective Hwang Ma Jin (Lee Bong Ryun) to help her uncover the truth behind the moss rose murders. Although he is innocent of the moss rose killings, there are many murders of which he is guilty—and now that the police is investigating Narae Cleaning, he will have to pay the price for the life he’s lived.
At the moment when life seemed most hopeless for Pyo In Sook, Sung Mi Do, and Kang Se Yeon (Kang Ye Won), they unexpectedly found new hope in the form of true friendship. The heartwarming relationship between the three seemingly unlikely friends has made us laugh and cry right along with them.
Although the bond between the three women is stronger than ever, the heartbreaking fact remains that they are all terminally ill—and the trio doesn’t have much time left to live. With Pyo In Sook’s, Kang Se Yeon’s, and Sung Mi Do’s health noticeably deteriorating in recent episodes, the biggest plot point of the drama’s final episodes is finding out what awaits our three leads at the end of their journey.
Due to coverage of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the final two episodes of “The One and Only” will air back to back on February 8 starting at 10 p.m. KST.
Are you looking forward to the final episodes of “The One and Only”?
