Netflix’s upcoming series “Mr. Plankton” has offered an exciting peek into its intriguing characters!
Written by Jo Yong of “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” and directed by Hong Jong Chan who helmed “Juvenile Justice” and “Dear My Friends,” “Mr. Plankton” is a romantic comedy that depicts the story of people who can’t blend in or connect with anyone, just like plankton. The drama will follow a man named Hae Jo (Woo Do Hwan), who was born by mistake, as he is accompanied by the world’s unluckiest woman Jae Mi (Lee Yoo Mi), as he embarks on his final adventure in life.
The newly released stills offer a glimpse into the unpredictable journey of Hae Jo, Jae Mi, and Eo Heung (Oh Jung Se), and the various characters they encounter along the way. Hae Jo’s once vacant expression as he drifted aimlessly through life, appears to come alive as he begins his journey with Jae Mi.
Meanwhile, Jae Mi, who has undergone rigorous training under her strict future mother-in-law Beom Ho Ja (Kim Hae Sook), unexpectedly leaves on her wedding day despite her lifelong yearning for the warmth of a family and the devotion of her groom-to-be Eo Heung. This raises the question of what Jae Mi will discover on her journey with Hae Jo.
Eo Heung’s sweet gesture also grabs attention. One still captures Eo Heung gifting Jae Mi a pair of exquisite traditional Korean shoes, while other images showcase his tender care for both Jae Mi and Hae Jo, highlighted by his warm and gentle smile.
Meanwhile, the formidable presence of Beom Ho Ja heightens tension, as her future daughter-in-law’s sudden disappearance and the transformation of her once-obedient son Eo Heung who has never defied her, leave audiences questioning how she will respond to this upheaval.
Notably, the series boasts stellar performances from a talented cast, including Kim Min Seok as Hae Jo’s loyal helper Kka Ri, the spirited and devoted Hae Jo’s childhood friend Bong Sook (Lee El), and the relentless pursuer Chil Sung (Oh Dae Hwan). Adding depth to the narrative is John Na (Alex Landi), Beom Ho Ja’s subordinate. Special appearances by Lee Hae Young, Lee Da Hee, Kim Soo Jin, and Jo Han Chul promise to further enrich the dynamic journey of Hae Jo, Jae Mi, and Eo Heung.
“Mr. Plankton” is set to premiere on November 8 via Netflix and Dramacool.
