tvN has shared emotional new stills of Kim Tae Ri and WJSN’s Bona in “Twenty Five, Twenty One.”

Set in the late 1990s, “Twenty Five, Twenty One” is about two young people who fall in love amidst the aftermath of the IMF crisis. Kim Tae Ri stars as Na Hee Do, an aspiring fencer, while Nam Joo Hyuk stars as Baek Yi Jin, a reporter whose family was torn apart due to the financial crisis. WJSN’s Bona plays Go Yu Rim, a national fencing athlete who does her best to protect her family despite difficult financial conditions.

In the previous episode, Go Yu Rim’s family fell further into a financial crisis, leading her to decide to move to Russia and compete for the Russian team. Na Hee Do expressed concern for Go Yu Rim due to the backlash she would receive from the public, but Go Yu Rim calmly told her, “Fencing is just a method for me. A method to protect my family.”

However, right before her flight took off, Go Yu Rim confessed to Na Hee Do, “Honestly, I don’t want to go. I want to continue being national athletes with you.” To make light of the situation, they playfully joked about meeting as competitors for different countries in the final round of their next competition.

The new stills showcase the Madrid 2001 competition they were referring to, where they actually end up meeting as competitors in the finals. For the duration of the match, they must put aside their feelings of friendship and compassion and solely do their best as athletes.
