On December 30, the 2018 MBC Drama Awards celebrated the many stars and MBC dramas that lit up viewers’ television screens this year!
The annual award ceremony took place at the MBC Media Center in the Sangam neighborhood of Seoul, with Kim Yong Man and Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun serving as MCs for the evening.
This year’s Daesang (grand prize) went to So Ji Sub, the star of MBC’s hit drama “Terius Behind Me”—which also claimed the award for Drama of the Year—marking the very first Daesang win of his accomplished 23-year career.
A visibly flustered So Ji Sub, who had already won a Top Excellence Award earlier that night, began his acceptance speech by saying with a laugh, “To be honest, I already said everything before, so I feel like [my mind] has become a blank slate. I was truly happy and grateful while filming ‘Terius [Behind Me],’ and I learned a lot.”
He went on, “I sincerely respect and admire all of my senior and junior actors, and I am always thankful to the staff who is constantly working hard outdoors, both day and night.”
So Ji Sub then teared up as he emotionally thanked the drama’s director and his fans “for always supporting me.” Fighting back his tears, he concluded, “I have so many people to thank, but I can’t think of anyone right now. Thank you so much.”
