Watch: “YG Treasure Box” Eliminates 2nd Trainee And Reveals New “Treasure 6” Lineup

Dec 29, 2018

The competition is heating up on “YG Treasure Box”!
On the December 28 episode of the YG Entertainment survival show, the six trainees who had successfully made it into the “Treasure 6” group faced off against six challengers who were vying for their spots in the debut lineup.
During last week’s episode, all 28 of the contestants, including the “Treasure 6” trainees, paired off into teams of two. Out of the 11 duos that hadn’t been chosen for the “Treasure 6” group, the members of WINNER then selected three teams who would have the chance to challenge the “Treasure 6” contestants in a head-to-head battle.
The winner of each battle was decided either by YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk or by the votes of 100 “Treasure Makers”—100 lucky viewers who had been selected to watch a livestream of the trainees’ performances. At the end of each battle, the “Treasure 6” team decided who would judge the battle by choosing between a gold card and silver card (with one of the cards representing Yang Hyun Suk and the other representing the 100 “Treasure Makers”), but without knowing which was which.
Spoiler
The first challenger duo, Lee Byounggon and Kim Seunghun, chose to face off against “Treasure 6” duo Ha Yoonbin and Kim Yeongue. Their battle was judged by the 100 “Treasure Makers,” who gave the victory to Lee Byounggon and Kim Seunghun.

Kim Doyoung and Kil Dohwan were up next, and they decided to challenge “Treasure 6” duo Keita and Bang Yedam. Although Yang Hyun Suk was the judge of the second battle, the show revealed that both he and the 100 “Treasure Makers” had come to the same decision—Keita and Bang Yedam had successfully defended their spots in the “Treasure 6” lineup.

The final challenger duo was Haruto and Park Jeongwoo, who took on “Treasure 6” duo Mashiho and Kim Junkyu. The 100 “Treasure Makers” handed the victory to Haruto and Park Jeongwoo, and the two trainees were able to return to the “Treasure” group.

The remaining eight duos that hadn’t participated in the “Treasure 6” battles were then forced to go head-to-head against their own partners in an elimination round.
Trainees Wang Jyunhao and Park Jihoon performed a cover of EXO’s “Ko Ko Bop” together for their battle, and Yang Hyun Suk remarked afterwards that he found it extremely difficult to choose a winner. After turning to the YG Entertainment employees who had watched the performance together with him to ask for their opinions, he ultimately announced that Wang Jyunhao was the next contestant to be eliminated.
