Watch: Yeo Jin Goo Masterfully Takes On Dual Roles Of King And Clown In New Teaser For “The Crowned Clown”

The newest teaser for “The Crowned Clown” hints at a suspenseful and intriguing story.
The teaser begins with Yeo Jin Goo as King Lee Heon demanding his chief royal secretary (played by Kim Sang Kyung) find a way to protect him, while holding a bloody sword up to his throat. Yeo Jin Goo as the clown Ha Seon is seen entertaining a crowd, and then meets the king. Kim Sang Kyung promises Lee Heon that Ha Seon would die for him, and Lee Heon watches the clown put on his clothes and adopt his mannerisms. His advisers warn the king that he should not leave the palace.
Meanwhile, scenes of blood and a woman’s death flash by, evidence of the dangerous schemes unfolding at the palace. The king/clown’s romance with Lee Se Young’s character is shown, as the two bond. As hidden agents infiltrate the palace and Yeo Jin Goo runs frantically away, Kim Sang Kyung comments, “Things are getting more and more interesting.” Yeo Jin Goo commands, “Tell me the way to completely get rid of them.”
“The Crowned Clown” is the television remake of popular film “Masquerade,” starring Lee Byung Hun and Han Hyo Joo. It follows the story of a king who places a clown, his doppelganger, on the throne to escape an assassination.
The drama will air its first episode on January 7 at 9:30 p.m. KST.
