On the latest episode of “The King of Mask Singer,” the identity of “Flamenco” was revealed!
During the August 25 broadcast of the MBC singing competition, eight new contestants entered the ring to challenge the reigning champion for the throne.
In the third match-up of Round 1, Flamenco faced off with her opponent through a duet version of Rumble Fish’s “I go.”
After watching their performance, several of the celebrity panelists guessed that Flamenco might be an idol—and the speculation only grew after she briefly showed off her dancing skills.
However, panelist Choi Ye Na thought differently. After watching Flamenco dance, she confidently declared that the masked singer seemed like a dancer of “Street Woman Fighter” fame. Kim Gura disagreed, saying Flamenco seemed like a professional singer and asking, “Doesn’t she sing too well to be a [dancer from] ‘Street Woman Fighter’?”
In the end, though Flamenco charmed the crowd and earned praise for her singing, she ultimately lost the round to her opponent by just 19 votes.
Flamenco then performed a soaring rendition of Magolpy’s “Flying High,” taking off her mask halfway through to reveal her identity. To the immense surprise of Choi Ye Na—who trained together with her at the same agency—Flamenco turned out to be none other than ARTMS and LOONA member HeeJin.
When host Kim Sung Joo called out Choi Ye Na for not recognizing her friend, she sheepishly asked HeeJin, “What are you doing here? Your voice has changed a bit!”
After explaining that they used to live together during their trainee days, Choi Ye Na went on to share, “Even back when we were trainees, she was really famous for being good at singing and dancing.”
