STUDIO X+U’s upcoming thriller drama “Tarot” has released a brand new poster and a teaser!
“Tarot” unfolds as a series of seven omnibus horror episodes delving into mysterious events that could be part of anyone’s everyday life, all centered around the theme of tarot cards. The plot kicks off as the main characters each receive different tarot cards, and in that moment, find their destinies cursed by the twisted tarot cards.
On June 14, “Tarot” debuted to an enthusiastic audience response and became the sole Korean entry in the short film competition at this year’s Cannes International Series Festival. The film, praised for its completeness and artistic merit, has generated ongoing interest in the series, celebrated as a successful crossover between film and television. Specifically, the full series will release four extra episodes not shown in the film version, offering an intriguing storyline and a gripping plot that immerses viewers in an intense world of horror and mystery once more.
Attention is now on four additional episodes, including Jo Yeo Jeong’s “Santa’s Visit,” Dex’s “Please Throw it Away,” and Go Kyu Pil’s “Going Home,” originally shown in theaters. “Couple Manager,” starring Ham Eun Jung and Kim Sung Tae, starts the lineup, unfolding against a familiar apartment backdrop to infuse everyday life with dread. Park Ha Sun’s “Rent Mom” pledges horror rooted in ordinary settings, while Oh Yu Jin’s “Phishing” delves into eerie terror stemming from sinister pranks. Additionally, “Single Locker,” featuring Seo Ji Hoon and Lee Joo Bin, uses lockers as a theme to hint at mysterious chemistry. From realistic extreme horror to intricately woven mysteries, these varied episodes are poised to send shivers down viewers’ spines. Crucially, the seamless connections between the theatrical episodes and the series, akin to puzzle pieces fitting together, promise a fully fleshed-out storyline that will captivate viewers with its expanded mystery.
The teaser trailer for “Tarot” previews the unsettling destinies that befall each episode’s protagonists, instantly capturing attention. Unexpectedly, as they hold a tarot card, they face an unexplained curse that unfolds rapidly, keeping viewers glued to the screen. The phrase “A curse messaged came to you” appears, adding to the confusion about the hidden retrograde meaning within the tarot cards and sparking curiosity about the unexpected twists in the fates of ordinary people. This builds anticipation for the full series’ seven eerie stories, promising to reveal their true nature.
