ATEEZ made “Immortal Songs” history on the latest episode of the show!
On June 17, the popular singing competition program aired its “Heroes in Uniform” special, which was dedicated to honoring those who serve the country in uniform. In keeping with the theme of the episode, the voting audience consisted of members of the army, fire department, police, coast guard, and more.
ATEEZ, who—after winning three trophies in the past—already held the record for the most wins on “Immortal Songs” of any idol group to date, returned to the show to put on another epic performance.
The group prepared a spectacular cover of the famous song “Highway in the Gale,” which is commonly used to cheer on athletes at sporting events.
Seonghwa explained, “We prepared a performance of ‘Highway in the Gale.’ Since today’s episode has such a great theme, we wanted to cheer on [our heroes in uniform] with a special message. So we debated a lot over what kind of songs could give them strength and cheer them on.”
Hongjoong continued, “[Our heroes in uniform] are always working so hard for us day and night, and we thought the lyrics to ‘Highway in the Gale’ suited them well, which is why we decided on this song.”
In the end, ATEEZ took the final win, marking their fourth time winning “Immortal Songs”—and setting a new record for the most wins by any idol group in “Immortal Songs” history.
The achievement is even more impressive considering that ATEEZ has only appeared on “Immortal Songs” six times as a group—meaning that out of only six appearances on the show, they managed to win four different times.
Congratulations to ATEEZ on their amazing achievement!
