Are you ready for another epic historical romance drama with a unique couple?
KBS 2TV’s upcoming series “Moonshine” is a drama set in the Joseon era, during the time when prohibition laws were at their strongest. The series will tell the love story of Kang Ro Seo, a struggling aristocrat who starts illegally making alcohol in order to support her family (played by Hyeri), and Joseon’s greatest inspector Nam Young, who is known for living a very principled life (played by Yoo Seung Ho).
As a strict inspector who does everything by the book, Nam Young is serious about cracking down on illegal alcohol peddling – leading to a thrilling chase between him and the law-breaking Kang Ro Seo. However, despite being on opposite sides of the law, the mismatched pair eventually falls in love, leading to a romance that is both dangerous and seemingly ill-fated.
Ahead of the premiere, “Moonshine” shared two key points about Nam Young and Kang Ro Seo’s love story!
Nam Young and Kang Ro Seo live in completely different worlds until they meet for the first time. Nam Young was born in the distant provinces, but came up to Hanyang (modern-day Seoul) in order to revive his family’s fortunes. He is a studious man with strict principles, and he believes everyone should stick to the rules, including himself.
On the other hand, Kang Ro Seo is an aristocrat who lands in a lot of debt after misfortune befalls her family. Unlike Nam Young, the rules aren’t her priority, and she’s willing to bend the laws in order to make a living. The two characters, who are total opposites, will get tangled up in an exciting romance in an era of prohibition where they are naturally enemies.
Nam Young and Kang Ro Seo will somehow end up living under the same roof. Nam Young has no idea he’s living with a purveyor of moonshine (illegal alcohol), and Kang Ro Seo doesn’t know she’s living with an inspector either.
In a previous interview, the writer Kim Ah Rok commented, “I especially look forward to the episode where Nam Young and Kang Ro Seo find out each other’s identities. That’s when Nam Young will start to suffer. He gets stuck with a woman who he never wanted to get entangled with.”
“Moonshine” premieres on December 20 and will be available on DramaCool.
