In Memories of the Alhambra, Hyun Bin's character, Jin Woo, arrives in Granada following a mysterious phone call from Jung Se Joo (EXO's Chanyeol), who is trying to find a virtual reality game buyer whom he he created. We can see many different aspects of Jin Woo along the way. Yes, he is a great CEO, likes to be pampered. But he is also a big passionate person, happy people holding a sword fighting the air, not thinking about his absurd appearance. We also find that he is an old husband who is suffering from his ex-wife who is pregnant with his best friend and cousin and is a devastating destruction.
As you can tell, Jin Woo attracted much of our attention in this first week. On the other hand, Park Shin Hye did not receive much work in the first episode. During the screen time she has, she mainly allows Jin Woo to react to what he has done, which is disappointing. Her character is described as a mesmerizing classical guitarist, but until now she has become less "mysterious", instead more "unsettled", and barely there is a guitar in sight.
Park Shin Hye has played a number of big, multi-faceted characters in the past. It's okay if she's not really the main lead in this movie. But we still want to see her as a completely unique person. Hopefully we will learn more about her next week.
