Jung Sung Il may be appearing in his first-ever lead role!
On April 13, Sung Jung Il’s agency KeyEast shared with News1, “Jung Sung Il has received an offer for new drama ‘Guardians’ [literal translation] and is positively considering his appearance.”
“Guardians” tells the story of people working to make up for an imperfect law. It will be the first Korean drama to feature electronic supervisors and probation officers, and will shed more light on the lives of probation officers who help, monitor, and restrain criminals.
Jung Sung Il has been offered the role of protagonist Bok Tae Ju, an electronic supervisor and probation officer who has his own definition of justice and is willing to do whatever it takes to put those who are likely to reoffend behind bars. As he considers even minor offences to be unacceptable and sends people straight to prison if he gets the opportunity, he is known as the “Grim Reaper.”
Jung Sung Il first gained public interest with his appearance in the 2020 drama “Forest of Secrets 2” (also known as “Stranger 2”), and has since starred in “Birthcare Center,” “Bad and Crazy,” “Our Blues,” and “Moonshine.” Most recently, he starred in Netflix’s hit series “The Glory” as Ha Do Yeong, the husband of Park Yeon Jin (Lim Ji Yeon).
