2PM’s Taecyeon will star in the new Japanese film “La Grande Maison Paris”!
On June 18, Taecyeon’s agency 51K shared, “Ok Taecyeon will star in the Japanese film ‘La Grand Maison Paris.’ Please show lots of interest and anticipation.”
“La Grande Maison Paris” is a film adaptation of the popular Japanese drama “La Grande Maison Tokyo” which aired on TBS in Japan in 2019. Many Japanese star actors who appeared in the original drama including Kimura Takuya, Suzuki Kyoka, Sawamura Ikki, and Oikawa Mitsuhiro will appear in the film, adding special narratives.
The film “La Grande Maison Paris” will tell the story of genius chefs Obana Natsuki (Kimura Takuya) and Hayami Rinko (Suzuki Kyoka), who earned three Michelin stars in Japan and then opened their restaurant La Grande Maison Paris in Paris, as they make their way to become the first Asians to receive three Michelin stars in the home of French cuisine.
Taecyeon takes on the role of Rick Yuan, a Korean-Canadian pastry chef who is in conflict with main chef Obana Natsuki at every turn. Rick Yuan is a character who has the skills to open his own shop and special passion for desserts. Taecyeon is expected to showcase impactful acting skills by speaking three languages including Korean, Japanese, and French.
Taecyeon remarked, “I was very excited to be able to appear in a project with Kimura Takuya, whom I admire, and it was an honor to be able to be a part of a great project. Through this experience of working with staff from various countries while going back and forth between Japan and Paris, I got a lot of positive motivation, and I also gained confidence that I can take on new challenges at any time if I can immerse myself in the character well. Just like the team La Grande Maison, who struggles to earn three Michelin stars, I hope that those who watch [the film] will also gain the courage that if they pursue their dreams, someday those dreams will come true.”
“La Grande Maison Paris” is scheduled to be released in Japan this winter. Stay tuned!
