The anonymous person who made malicious comments against Suzy has been found guilty.
On July 27, the Supreme Court Division 3 (Chief Justice Ahn Cheol Sang) dismissed the second appeal made by the malicious commenter (hereafter referred to as “A”), who was on trial on the charges of insult, and “A” was fined 500 thousand won (approximately $391).
Previously, “A” was sued for their malicious comments dating October 2015 to December 2015 on articles about Suzy from Internet portal sites. The prosecution filed a summary order demanding a monetary penalty on “A.”
“A” pleaded not guilty and demanded a formal trial but was sentenced to a fine of 1 million won (approximately $782) in the first trial. However, the second trial overturned the judgement. The trial continued to the highest court due to the prosecution’s objection, but the trial on the appeal determined that it was difficult to regard the actions of “A” as justifiable as they were beyond the scope of legitimate criticism and returned the case to the Seoul Norther District Court.
After the reversal, the court sentenced “A” to a fine of 500 thousand won in accordance with the aims of the Supreme Court. Although “A” appealed again, the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal on the same day, stating that the original judgement is justified.
Currently, Suzy is gearing up to return with the romance drama “Doona!” and she is confirmed to reunite with Kim Woo Bin in a brand-new drama by Kim Eun Sook.
