“Doona!” has shared romantic new stills ahead of its premiere!

Based on the webtoon “The Girl Downstairs,” “Doona!” is a romance drama about ordinary university student Won Jun (Yang Se Jong) and retired K-pop idol Doona (Suzy) who meet at a share house.

On October 11, Netflix unveiled a series of exciting new stills, offering a sneak peek into the budding romance between Doona and Won Jun who’ve vowed not to fall for each other.

Doona, formerly a member of the popular idol group Dream Sweet, initially mistakes Won Jun for a stalker when he appears wearing Dream Sweet merchandise. Due to this, she initially maintains a guarded and frosty demeanor towards him. However, Doona who has built walls to barricade herself from the world, finds her defenses starting to crumble as she begins to experience the gentle and warm-hearted side of Won Jun. Despite their initial meeting being shrouded in misunderstanding, they gradually discover themselves sharing an intimate connection, realizing that their presence in each other’s lives has grown significantly.

On the other hand, Won Jun who is caught between the realms of reality and romance, grows increasingly resolute in his determination to understand and be with Doona. She becomes all the more special to him as he finds her complexity intriguing.

Director Lee Jung Hyo described the two characters as “Doona who finds it challenging to express herself and Won Jun who finds it challenging to understand Doona.” He further explained, “We depict the relationship between these two characters by following it from Won Jun’s point of view. This will allow [viewers] to understand both Doona and Won Jun’s perspectives.”

Describing the rollercoaster of emotions experienced by Doona and Won Jun as their feelings evolve, Suzy shared, “She initially approaches him with a desire to know more about him and build a friendship with him. Later as she develops feelings for him, she gradually tests her feelings for Won Jun in her own way.” Yang Se Jong remarked, “As Won Jun’s relationship with Doona deepens in the later part of the series, he becomes more captivated by her and learns to embrace his naturally evolving emotions.”
