“Squid Game” has made history by scoring four nominations for the 28th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards!
On January 12 local time, the SAG Awards officially announced this year’s nominees—and “Squid Game” became the first non-English language TV series ever to be nominated for an award. (In the film category, “Parasite” became the first foreign-language film ever to win the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture back in 2020.)
“Squid Game” has been nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, which is the top prize in the SAG Awards’ drama category, alongside “The Handmaid’s Tale,” “The Morning Show,” “Succession,” and “Yellowstone.”
“Squid Game” stars Lee Jung Jae and Jung Ho Yeon also snagged nominations for the top prizes for individual actors. For Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, Lee Jung Jae will be facing off against Brian Cox (“Succession”), Billy Crudup (“The Morning Show”), Kieran Culkin (“Succession”), and Jeremy Strong (“Succession”).
Meanwhile, Jung Ho Yeon will be going up against Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale”), Sarah Snook (“Succession”), and Reese Witherspoon (“The Morning Show”) for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
Finally, “Squid Game” earned a nomination for Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series. The other nominees for the award include “Cobra Kai,” “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” “Loki,” and “Mare of Easttown.”
Congratulations to the cast of “Squid Game” on their historic nominations!
