Actor Song Duk Ho has admitted to the evasion of his military duties.
On January 31, industry insiders shared that actor Song Duk Ho hurriedly stepped down from the new drama “Beneficial Fraud” (literal translation), which he recently joined, due to an issue related to his military service.
Regarding the report, Song Duk Ho’s agency Bistus Entertainment shared an official statement and confirmed the actor’s involvement in military evasion. The statement reads, “Song Duk Ho was looking for information on the Internet to postpone his military enlistment around summer of last year. After receiving consultation through a person’s (referred to as “A”) blog, he made the wrong decision and ended up receiving a Grade 4 (non-active duty) military assessment as a public service worker in an illegal way rather than delaying his enlistment, which was his initial goal.”
The agency also stated, “Song Duk Ho is currently undergoing a police investigation, and he will diligently participate in the remaining prosecution investigations as well. We deeply reflect on this incident and sincerely apologize to the many people who are disappointed.”
A source from Studio Dragon, which is the producing company for “Beneficial Fraud,” remarked, “The casting for the successor to Song Duk Ho’s role is currently undergoing, and there are no disruptions to the schedule.” The drama tells the revenge story about a con artist, who lacks empathy, and an attorney, who is excessively empathetic by nature, as they team up to form an unlikely alliance in order to battle evil.
Song Duk Ho debuted through the film “Burning” in 2018 at the age of 28 (in Korean reckoning) and actively appeared on the big and small screens. He starred in various dramas including “Hospital Playlist,” “Taxi Driver,” “D.P.,” and “Missing: The Other Side 2.”
