SF9’s Chani On Choosing Upcoming Movie, Director Talks About Working With Him

On January 10, the upcoming film “First Issue” held a press conference ahead of its release, where director Baek Seung Hwan talked about casting and working with Chani.
The director shared, “When we began filming two years ago, I didn’t know [Chani] and we had no actors with ticket power. When you search ‘actor Kang Chani,’ one of his related search terms is ‘SKY Castle Hwang Woo Joo.’ They say that those who will make it, make it. When we were filming, Chani was a high school student who hadn’t even taken his college entrance exam. But now, he’s become an actor who’s hard to cast.”
Chani remarked, “When I first received the script, it was a realistic story about two brothers who struggle to live in modern society. I was touched, as I thought it had a very realistic message.”
“First Issue” is a film made up of five short films. Actors such as Jung Hyung Suk, Moon Jong Won, Jo Dal Hwan, Lee Ji Hyun, Jo Min Jae, Kim Jae Hwa, Ji Il Joo, Chani, Seo Dong Gap, Lee Young Jin, Baek Soo Jang, Lee Byung Joo, Boo Jin Seo, and Baek Joo Hwan appear in the films.
The film will premiere on January 17.
