Seolhyun Talks About Her Character In “The Killer’s Shopping List,” Working With Lee Kwang Soo, And More

Ahead of the upcoming premiere, AOA’s Seolhyun spoke about her role in the new tvN drama “The Killer’s Shopping List”!

Based on the novel of the same name by Kang Ji Young, “The Killer’s Shopping List” is a comedy-mystery thriller about an ordinary neighborhood on the outskirts of Seoul. When a mysterious body is found in the vicinity of an apartment building, a supermarket receipt becomes a key piece of evidence that kicks off an entertaining hunt for the killer.

Lee Kwang Soo will star in the drama as Ahn Dae Sung who was once considered a genius with impressive memorization skills. However, his life took a turn for the worse due to an incident that took place at his mom’s (Jin Hee Kyung‘s) supermarket when he was 10 years old. Seolhyun will star in the drama as Ahn Dae Sung’s girlfriend Do Ah Hee, a passionate police officer who has only had eyes for him from a very young age.

When asked why she chose the drama, Seolhyun answered, “The story of finding the killer using a receipt was interesting.” Then she added she was drawn to her character, saying, “Do Ah Hee is professional at work, and she has a clear sense of purpose to protect Dae Sung and her neighborhood, so I found her very charming.”

Concerning her synchronization with her character, she replied, “Ah Hee and I have a 50 percent synchronization rate. We’re both honest and lovable, but she says whatever is on her mind and doesn’t hold back. She’s attractive because she has characteristics that I don’t have.”

Seolhyun, who has appeared in projects of diverse genres including the historical drama “My Country” and the crime drama “Awaken,” will now take the challenge of appearing in a comedy-mystery thriller. The actress shared, “I practiced basic action a lot. In especially learned boxing for the first time while preparing for this drama, and it was a fun experience.”

She also mentioned her chemistry with Lee Kwang Soo and Jin Hee Kyung and remarked, “The two senior actors took good care of me, so we’re filming with the best atmosphere and teamwork.”

Seolhyun dove into details, saying, “Hee Kyung sunbae always tells me to do everything I want to do on the set. She accepts all my ideas that I prepared or thought about during filming, so I’m acting with ease. Kwang Soo sunbae always makes the atmosphere of the drama set comfortable. He listens to my concerns about acting, and we’re always discussing each scene while creating it.”

Seohyun will be appearing in tvN’s variety show “Unexpected Business 2” starring Cha Tae Hyun and Jo In Sung, and the episode will air on April 14. Lee Kwang Soo was one of the first guests on the show, and Seolhyun commented, “Kwang Soo sunbae went on the show first, so I also had fun filming it. He gave me tips on how to work there, so please check it out through the broadcast.”

Seolhyun ended the interview by sharing a key point of the drama. She hinted, “All characters are two-sided. In addition to finding the killer, each character has a secret. Please watch the process of how they find the murderer and the way their secrets come to light.”
