Change Days season 2 episode 8 starts with the intensity of a thousand suns! For anyone who forgot, in the last episode, the men asked out the women on different dates to test out how they gel with each other.

Every couple in this episode is new, so it’s a combination we haven’t seen previously. However, now that the contestants have spent time together in the villa, these new pairings don’t seem to be as awkward around each other as, say, the first day they all met. Since they have stayed with each other and spent so much time together, there is an air of familiarity among all the couples that feels rather sweet.

And, I’m not saying that from the romantic point of view. I mean, as friends even, they all seem very comfortable around each other and share very personal things with each other. Consecutively, most of the (original) couples are now fighting, and their distance seems to be constantly growing.

You don’t see the couples share things with each other that they do with their dates. It’s awfully sad to see how badly things are going, and even the hosts reflect on how some of the participants have rather resigned themselves to their fates after 5 days in the villa.

There’s an awful lot of talking in Change Days season 2 episode 8. All the dates have very in-depth conversations about their own relationships and life in general. It fascinates me every time as to how utterly confusing all of this must be for these people – you go home to your partner but then go out on intimate dates with others. It’s reflected in the dates where they talk more about their relationship issues than about the person they are out with.

I think this is the part that fascinates me the most – will any of the dates be successful? Will anyone choose anyone new to go home with because I feel like most of them talk about their issues rather than concentrating on whom they are out with? Of course, barring a few dates which were genuinely nice and warm, but that’s the exception here.

Anyway, coming to the conversations – these are some of the most genuine conversations I’ve heard on reality TV. I mean, seriously. It’s so devastatingly real that you might just feel like this can happen to you at some point in your life.

The episode ends, however, rather shockingly. If there was ever a moment when I’ve actively wanted someone to not make a bad decision, this is the one. I was extremely uncomfortable, but not shocked, at some of the decisions some people made. You understand their points of view, but good god, is it the most horrendous thing a person can do.

I won’t give away spoilers since it is a shocking turn of events for the Korean reality TV show, but since it went there, I am expecting more such shocking twists and turns to crop up.

Overall, the episode is rather simple and straightforward with its progression. Lots of talking, lots of sharing and just a simple twist, in the end, to leave us on a cliffhanger. For those of you who have been following the series, it’s going to get pretty messed up now!
