Shoyo Hinata joined the Karasuno High School volleyball club after admiring the "little giant" he saw on TV during the Spring High School Volleyball Tournament when he was in elementary school. However, there he meets his opponent, Tobio Kageyama, whom he defeated in his first and last official junior high school match! Despite their rivalry, Hinata's outstanding athletic ability and Kageyama's precise tossing produce a miraculous quick attack, a.k.a. the "Henshin Quick Attack," which becomes a force for Karasuno's revival.
