Recap Korean Drama "Trolley (2022)" Episode 9

Trolley episode 9 starts with Hye-joo finding Ji-hoon’s red phone inside Joong-do’s desk. Overcome with sadness and realising that her husband lied to her, she reads Ji-hoon’s texts to Soo-bin, wherein he tells her that he will end his life if she breaks up with her.

Hye-joo rushes to Soo-bin to talk to her but finds her room empty.

Meanwhile, Soo-bin is busy pushing all her clothes into a locker and realises that her lip is still bleeding. At home, Hye-joo is heartbroken and confused surrounding the new information that has come to light. She breaks down when Yeo-jin comes home and wonders what to do with this newfound information.

A tensed Yeo-jin tries to reach Joong-do, but fails when he doesn’t pick up the phone. Hye-joo wonders why Soo-bin suddenly left and tries to figure out how to get in touch with her. Yeo-jin advices not to try to find her, considering she had a very rocky relationship, but Hye-joo refuses to stop searching for the truth.

Soo-bin, on the other hand, goes to talk to her mother, wherein we learn that her mother wants to keep her hidden from her other daughter, which irks Soo-bin thoroughly. In the present, she asks her mother why she doesn’t care for her and her mother retorts back, saying that she can’t take care of her. When her daughter’s mention makes her threaten Soo-bin, the latter promises never to contact her after this and walks away sobbing.

On the other hand, Hye-joo contacts Joong-do to talk about Ji-hoon but collapses before she can get a word out. She is rushed to the hospital, and Yeo-jin hands over Ji-hoon’s phone to Joong-do while Hye-joo sleeps. He eventually tells her the truth that he hid it from her to protect her. It’s a difficult moment for the two of them as they come to terms with the truth as a couple.

Meanwhile, Seung-hee meets Seung-kyu’s family to hatch a plan and get back at Hye-joo and Joong-do at the same time. She calls themselves the victims and proposes that they work together to get some justice.

Elsewhere, Soon-hong’s aide Hyeong-tae tries to find out who Soo-bin is to bring Joong-do down and throw dirt on his name. On the other hand, Joong-do and Hye-joo discuss why Ji-hoon would take such a drastic step, and Hye-joo laments why the same thing keeps happening in their lives. Joong-do refuses to lump the three men together, mentioning how Ji-hoon didn’t end his life running from a crime. Hye-joo agrees with him and hands over Ji-hoon’s pictures to her to look through them.

At Seung-hee’s home, after another bout of verbal abuse, a frustrated Seung-hee remembers trying to convince Seung-kyu’s parents, and they tell her that they want the matter to end since, apparently, Namgoong Sol a call girl, and if this becomes public knowledge, it will tarnish their son’s reputation.

Armed with dangerous knowledge and fresh out of a verbal lashing, Seung-hee toys with the idea of giving the information out to the public.

Back at home, Yeo-jin chastises Joong-do for not doing a better job of hiding Ji-hoon’s phone and causing such distress to Hye-joo. She is left shocked when Joong-do’s thoughts make her realise that he might have used Ji-hoon’s texts to cause Soo-bin distress. However, he doesn’t do so out of respect for Hye-joo’s words to be nice to Soo-bin.

The next day, Soo-bin’s mother picks up her phone and is shocked to realise that the person on the other end is her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Joong-do and Hye-joo spend the day at the columbarium visiting Ji-hoon’s and trying to come to terms with their loss.

Meanwhile, Seung-hee’s very adult decision comes at a horrible time for Woo-jae and Joong-do, who gets frustrated at such a huge amount of information getting missed. As Joong-do tries to get space to figure out what to do next, a frustrated Soo-bin screams at her mother for giving her phone away to a stranger without asking her first. Moreover, her mother lies to her as well about telling her ‘boyfriend’ about her pregnancy.

Elsewhere, Hye-joo sends Soo-bin’s number from Ji-hoon’s phone a text to contact her.

That night, Seung-hee and Ki-young go out on a date wherein she gets a call from Seung-kyu’s parents, who threaten to sue her for giving out personal information and slandering their son’s name. She, unfortunately, isn’t allowed to explain her side of things. Unfortunately for Seung-hee, it was not her who leaked the information; it was Hyeong-tae.

Patting his aide’s back, Soon-hong asks him to use this time to blackmail Joong-do with Hye-joo’s past to make him stop digging into the real estate speculation. Unfortunately for them, their grins are taken off their faces when they realise shocking news has made headlines – Joong-do getting beaten up by Seung-kyu’s family, the same video that Woo-jae had taken that day at the hospital.

As Woo-jae gets on the elevator, basking in the glory of good timing, Hyeong-tae gets on the same elevator and mentions about the timing of the news story. Woo-jae agrees with him and mentions how it put the news of another political aide’s sex solicitation to the sidelines, wondering whether Hyeong-tae is still into those activities. Ticked off by the question, the latter asks him to mind his own business and take care of the ‘girl living at Joong-do’s place.’, leaving Woo-jae perplexed.

Meanwhile, Hyeong-tae finally remembers how he knows Soo-bin – he was blackmailed into giving money for an auto accident in the past wherein the blackmailer had asked him to send the money to Soo-bin’s account. As he wonders what to do with the information, Joong-do gets a surprise visit at his home from Gwi-soon, who demands to know why he would meet Seung-kyu’s parents.

Joong-do and Woo-jae follow a furious Gwi-soon back to her place, wherein she asks them never to visit her again. While they try to come to terms with the repercussions of the issue, Yoon-seo comes back heartbroken after watching Joong-do’s video. Watching the video also pains Hye-joo, and she is left heartbroken when she sees the wound on his stomach.
