The Golden Spoon episode 8 starts off with Seung-cheon soon realising that the people who have arrested him aren’t really police officers and he is being kidnapped. He tries to get rid of them but fails until the cloth on his head is lifted and he finds himself in a spotlight with people around him.
Jun-tae arrives next to him from the crowd and introduces “Tae-yong” to the group known as Amikus. This group consists of young rich kids who socialise while also protecting cultural assets and indulging in volunteer work as a hobby. Seung-cheon tries to blend in until Yeo-jin comes and explains the whole thing to him.

Elsewhere, Tae-yong visits Ju-hee and hands her a taser to her. Back at the Amikus party, Seung-cheon tries to leave when Jun-tae hands him over a drink which has been drugged. He then drags Seung-cheon to a corner and tries to find out about President Na’s murder but gets no answer from him except his confession of being Lee Seung-cheon.
Yeo-jin overhears this conversation and comes to the conclusion that Tae-yong must have had something to do with President Na’s death. Seung-cheon thinks the same way and dreams of Tae-yong killing Ju-hee. He then tries to understand the kind of person Tae-yong is while going ahead to check on him.
He soon comes to the conclusion that Tae-yong is not the kind of person who is capable of killing someone. On the other hand, Yeo-jin informs Hyun-do about what happened at the Amikus party and tells him that she is capable of protecting him if Hyun-do gets her engaged with Tae-yong.
Hyun-do scoffs at this thought, but on the other hand, he is furious at Jun-tae and rushes home to thrash him with a Kendo stick. Young-sin tries to stop him until Hyun-do reminds her that Tae-yong is her son and not Jun-tae and she should be protecting his son.
Elsewhere, Ju-hee checks into a hotel and opens up her suitcase filled with money while remembering her brother’s last words to her before breaking off his ties with her. On the other hand, Seung-cheon joins the Amikus members on a trip to a cultural heritage site when one fo the members tells him about Tae-yong’s relationship with Jun-tae.
Later, Yeo-jin discusses Tae-yong’s connection with President Na’s death with him which startles him until he tells her that Tae-yong is not capable of harming anyone. She then reminds him to forget about Ju-hee before he leaves.

On the other hand, Tae-yong tells Lee Chul about his decision to not go to college and instead work as a Webtoon artist. Lee Chul is depressed about his injured wrist which leaves him incapable of continuing as an artist and tells Tae-yong to not think this way and attend college.
He convinces him in the best way possible and changes Tae-yong’s decision. Elsewhere, Young-sin finds out that a maid tried to sell Tae-yong’s blazer that she was told to burn and immediately gets her hands on it.
Ju-hee is busy looking for a place to stay when she is asked to meet Seung-cheon. He tells her that “Seung-cheon” is not the same guy she fell in love with and should not stick so close to him. This offends her and she leaves but catches up with her and apologises for his behaviour while telling her that she can rely on him for help as a friend. But she soon gets a call from her ex-maid who has an important clue for her.
The next day during a meeting, Jun-tae puts forth an advertisement which impresses everyone until Seung-cheon opposes it with a reason that makes everyone think. Hyun-do sides with Seung-cheon and tells Jun-tae to redo his work. Alex Boo is impressed by Seung-cheon and praises him in front of Hyun-do who is not happy with the empathy his son has shown.
Elsewhere, Yeo-jin sees Ju-hee with Tae-yong and gets to know that she is going to meet her ex-maid who knows about “Tae-yong” being the last one to visit President Na. She tells Seung-cheon about this who then rushes to find the two. He soon finds them at a traffic intersection and sees the maid there too.

However, she is hit by a truck as soon as she tries to cross the road and this is witnessed by all three of them. Ju-hee does not find out about the culprit while Tae-yong gets into a panic and Seung-cheon leaves to talk to Hyun-do but his back is seen by Ju-hee.
After helping Tae-yong, she asks him about her suitcase that is filled with money and the two realise that it has disappeared. On the other hand, Jun-tae arrives at Hyun-do’s office with a DNA report that confirms Tae-yong’s involvement in President Na’s death. In exchange for the blazer, he puts forth the condition to receive every single thing that has been given to Tae-yong along with his properties, shares in the company, and so on.
He also asks for Tae-yong to be sent to the USA and this condition has to be accepted by Hyun-do which greatly angers him. Elsewhere, Ju-hee and Tae-yong as disheartened by what has happened but the former tells him to let go of what has happened.
Seeing her like this makes him displeased and to add to this he sees his parents discussing Lee Chul’s injury which is due to the lack of treatment. This makes Tae-yong infuriated as he wishes to be “Hwang Tae-yong”. Right then he gets a call from Alex Boo with a job offer and another golden spoon is seen in his collection.

Later that night, Seung-cheon looks for Hyun-do when Jun-tae gets hold of him and beats him up as Hyun-do did to him. However, during this thrashing session, scenes of Jun-tae being the real culprit behind the massacre in the USA passes by.
The scene then changes to Ju-hee checking out of the hotel when she sees Yeo-jin carrying a familiar-looking suitcase and asks to check it. However, she is proven wrong and Yeo-jin reminds her about the importance of money which she never knew while remembering memories of her childhood.
Ju-hee is ashamed but is unable to do anything while Yeo-jin leaves the hotel and passes the suitcase to a beggar on the street who opens it to find the money hidden within the luggage.
The Golden Spoon episode 8 ends with Hyun-do laughing at the very expensive blazer he has just purchased when Seung-cheon rushes in to change his decision of sending him off to the USA. Hyun-do angrily throws the papers which document the loss he has incurred because of him and lets him know that his decision is final.
Seung-cheon is unable to do anything and prepares to leave, however, in the luggage, he sees newspapers filled with the massacre that had happened and also finds out that Jun-tae studied with Tae-yong in the States.
He then carries on preparing to leave, but now with a goal in mind. She sends a message to Ju-hee with his goodbye while seeing his family for the last time. At the airport, Ju-hee comes to see him off but when he turns to leave, she remembers the man she saw on the scene of her maid’s accident was none other than Seung-cheon.

She connects the dots and comes to the conclusion that he is the culprit who killed her father. She wants to scream at him but is held back while Seung-cheon leaves.
Time soon passes by and we are brought to one month before the 10-year time limit comes to an end. Tae-yong arrives walking in formal clothes to find a drunk Seung-cheon sprawled on a bench on a sidewalk like a homeless and wakes him up. We see a new Seung-cheon who seems like a spoiled rich brat who knows nothing but to enjoy.
After this episode, there is no doubt that this show is heading towards a very intriguing plot which will not disappoint us. Things are really getting better each weekend and the character development is really pulling me into this show.
I like how the Kdrama makes sure to let us know that both Tae-yong and Seung-cheon are very strong and talented characters and is trying to bring balance to the two. The two are not just showing their real talents in their new lives but also learning a lot about the other’s life at the same time.
However, what really shocked me in this episode has to be the golden spoon that is in Alex Boo’s collection. With Tae-yong’s desire of becoming “Hwang Tae-yong”, I really wonder what changes this second golden spoon is going to bring to the characters.
Finally, Seung-cheon’s new looks are a shocker but I’m pretty sure that this is just a cover for a big plan that he has ready. And with just 30 days to go before the choice stands in front of him again, I’m pretty sure that the upcoming episodes are to look forward to.
