One Dollar Lawyer episode 6 starts with Ji-hun telling Min-jae that he knows about his little scheme of drawing the man with the black umbrella and asks him what happened that night. Min-jae thinks back to Hee-ju slapping him and then crying, looking at the canvas, and when Ji-hun comes back to the office, he tells his colleagues that Chun-gil is really dead but that he had died 3 years ago.
As Ma-ri and Mu-jang are left shocked, Min-hyeok, Ye-jin and their team dig up Chun-gil’s body from inside a coffin and discuss why things feel so easy. Meanwhile, at the office, Ji-hun tells his colleagues the truth behind the family – that Min-jae was always the artist and he simply lied on his father’s behalf. Unfortunately, the lies turned his father desperate and bitter, and he ended his life when he couldn’t take it anymore. After the tragedy, the family started to use Min-jae as the cash cow.

The question now remains – what will Ji-hun’s strategy be now? Will he continue to represent Min-jae and ask for leniency or simply walk away from the mess?
That night, while watching UI, everyone is shocked to discover that Min-jae had told the reporters the location where he hid the murder weapon as the last definitive proof of his crimes. Things seem to be falling into place rather conveniently, and Ji-hun is left to wonder what is going on.
At the house the next day, Min-jae is shocked to find the painting and Ji-hun there, who tells everyone what happened the fateful night – Su-yeon was the one who accidentally killed her mother while trying to tear up her brother’s painting and in order to save her, Min-jae took the blame on himself.
In the present, Min-jae denies Su-yeon having anything to do with it. However, Ji-hun tells him that this is similar to what he did to his father, who couldn’t take on the burden of the truth. This time around, he is pushing his sister down a similar path. He asks him whether he thinks Su-yeon would be happy if he goes to prison in her place, and the two siblings break down and hold each other as they cry.
Things turn out well for Min-jae and Su-yeon confesses to the crime. Min-jae goes on with his life while Su-yeon gets prison time. However, there’s still hope for the siblings now that the truth is out.

After the end of a rather successful case, it’s a calm day at the law office. Ji-hun has gone to pay respects to someone close while Ma-ri goes out to meet someone. However, before she does that, she finds the picture of Lee Ju-yeong hidden inside one of Ji-hun’s cupboards. She remembers that the woman worked at Baek Law Firm before and thus goes off to meet Ye-jin to get some tea.
At dinner, Ye-jin tells her about Ji-hun’s past. 5 years ago, Ji-hun was involved in a very risky shakedown which he solved by taking a corrupt chairman on the red carpet. However, all that is overshadowed by Kim Soo-hyun’s guest appearance that leaves the reporters at the scene as well as everyone watching the show (I am sure) stunned!
Anyway, after getting an earful from his seniors, Ji-hun gets ready to take on the chairman’s wealthy lawyers but probably wasn’t ready for Ju-yeong. At court, thus, he is shocked to see Baek Hyun-mu entering, along with Ju-yeong and others. Although Ji-hun doesn’t get his way in court, he does, later on, go out for a coffee with Ji-yeong.
While together, Ju-yeong and Ji-hun have a rather sweet conversation about winning the case and the loser buying the drink. It’s clear both of them are smitten, and Ju-yeong tells him that she’s counting on him to put a jerk behind bars. Ji-hun promises him that that’s exactly what he will do.
Something tells me that it didn’t go that well.

Another delightfully emotional episode – I think the series has touched my heart somehow. I am sure I am not the only one who feels this way.
Anyway, before I start to digress too much, today’s episode’s first half, which covered Min-jae’s case, has been a rather interesting case that was made really nicely. Although the end was rather predictable, I still enjoyed the emotional moments between the characters in the small story.
Coming to Ji-hun’s backstory, I am hooked to know what happened to the trial. I have a sneaking suspicion that it didn’t go well. Did Ju-yeong die? Did Ji-hun’s father die? The trial is definitely going to be tough for both the lawyers, no doubt. However, what’s the secret behind the rather elusive lawyer of the present?
