Big Mouth episode 7 starts with Chae-bong and Du-geun putting on anklet monitors and getting ready to get out of prison finally. Well, actually, their guards are putting on the monitor because… obviously.
Inside the prison, Chang-ho gives death stares toward Jae-ho as he thinks back to the interaction that he had with him the other day. Jae-ho, meanwhile, is buttering up Chun-sik so that he can put in a good word for him with Ji-hoon and continue to protect him. While this conversation is taking place, Soo-chul meets them and declares that the CCTVs will be down till lights out. Satisfied, Chun-sik asks him to put down some plastic.
No, they aren’t planning to murder Chang-ho; rather, it’s for Jae-ho – Ji-hoon hasn’t taken the backstabbing too well. However, thank god for Chang-ho; he saves Jae-ho just as Chun-sik is about to beat his head in. Soo-chul, meanwhile, keeps an eye out as a fight breaks out between the two factions, with Jae-ho tied to a chair in between them.
Jae-ho is safe in the end, and he and Chang-ho discuss how things are going to end up if Jae-ho does decide to testify against Ji-hoon and the others. He spills the beans that there are scarier people behind Ji-hoon who are much more powerful than him; this interests Chang-ho, who immediately asks him who that is. Jae-ho, realising that he has, once again, spoken too much, asks Chang-ho to forget about the papers – he will do anything else that Chang-ho asks him to.
In the hall, it’s apparent that the entire fight was an ordeal orchestrated by Chang-ho to win Jae-ho’s trust. As the two factions take care of each other’s wounds, Chang-ho and Chun-sik talk about the latter’s release from prison in 3 months and that Chang-ho needs to take care of his men after he goes out. He promises to do so and asks him to get out of this place at the earliest.
After Chun-sik and his men leave, Jerry asks Chang-ho what the latter is planning to do with Jae-ho – since they left him here, they will never let him go anywhere near the trial. Chang-ho, however, looks rather confident and, once outside the hall, takes out one of the tarot cards from Big Mouse.
Mi-ho, meanwhile, really jumps into her own investigation when a patient dies mysteriously, and the family is not allowed to bury the body or perform an autopsy. She goes to the hospital that night to get a sample of his blood. Unfortunately for her, she is caught by Joo-hee and the rest of the hospital staff, and they search through her bag and body to find proof. They don’t find any, and Mi-ho is a little surprised to find Do-ha there.
As Do-ha and Joo-hee go on a date, Mi-ho retrieves the blood sample from the morgue, but once in the elevator, she is ambushed by someone in black. Mi-ho, however, is no damsel in distress, and she fights back with all her might but is overpowered in the end. As the elevator door opens up, Do-ha comes face to face with the man strangling Mi-ho.
He gives chase but loses him in the parking lot. Anyway, he comes back to get Mi-ho, and she breathes a sigh of relief as she realises that the blood sample is safe with her. Do-ha asks her what it’s for, and she tells him that whatever is hidden in this sample might just get them close to Jae-young’s papers. She later drops the sample off safely to be analysed and then thanks Do-ha for being at the right place at the right time.
The next morning, back at the prison, Yoon-gab installs a Mother Mary statue in the hall. Yoon-gab tries to sell the statue, but Chang-ho volunteers to buy it off of him so that it stays where it is. After a little prayer session, Chang-ho thinks back to Big Mouse’s next tarot to him – The Chariot Upright. He reminisces that Big Mouse should enjoy this little victory because this is a trap for him.
Back outside, Chang-ho wonders who will get caught in his trap and accidentally (or, on purpose?) bits Chun-sik over the head with a football. However, whoever it may be, he’s sure that someone will come forth by the next day afternoon. After going back to the confessional, he is shocked to find that the card is gone, and his true plan then comes to light.

The Mary statue has a camera in it, and the book that he is carrying around has a phone. Chang-ho is tired of being pushed around, and it’s time to figure out who Big Mouse is. As he goes through the footage, a shocking revelation comes to light – it’s Jerry who has the card.
Chang-ho is taken aback and realises that Jerry is the only person who has never doubted Chang-ho being Big Mouse and has been with him every minute of every day. He immediately goes off to confront him and takes him with him to have a chat.
Chang-ho gets down to business the moment they are alone and asks him to tell him why he is doing this – he’ll give him three tries. Jerry looks flustered at first, but when he realises that Chang-ho is pretty serious with his question, he asks him whether it’s because he went to the confessional booth. Chang-ho asks him why he took the tarot card and Jerry swears that he didn’t take it. He went to the booth because he was genuinely curious.
However, Chang-ho doesn’t seem to be in the mood for silly crap and asks him to get out. Jerry tries to reason with him, but Chang-ho isn’t having any of it. He goes back to the video to look through it and realises that there are 30 minutes missing in the video – someone has messed with the footage. At that moment, Mi-ho asks him to call her, and she tells him on the phone that someone sent her 33 white chrysanthemums.

Chang-ho immediately knows what’s going on. The flower even has a tarot card with it, The Fool, Reversed. Chang-ho surmises that this is Big Mouse’s warning to him and wonders how Big Mouse got to know about the camera even though only 4 people knew his plan. Outside the hall, a frustrated Jerry asks Chang-ho whether he really is Big Mouse and asks him whether he simply follows Big Mouse’s orders – do they communicate using tarot cards?
Jerry, however, isn’t really taking Chang-ho’s advice seriously and asks him who Big Mouse really is – he desperately needs to meet him. Chang-ho warns him to stay away from this mess and, furthermore, he should forget everything that happened today if he wants to live. Clearly heartbroken, Jerry looks quite hopeless.
Later, Ji-hoon and his friends get ready to meet the Elder in his private movie theatre, where the audience gets an information dump about how all of these corrupt people are linked together. Everyone, except Do-ha, who seems to be bullied because he’s an outsider. Good thing that the Elder and Joo-hee are on his side, though!
After the presentation, the Elder shows everyone their place and reminds them that everything that has happened in Gucheon is not thanks to them, and thus, they shouldn’t act like they own anything. He, in fact, is searching for an heir to the empire, and that’s the last thing that he will do before moving on from it.
After the Elder, Joo-hee and Do-ha leave, the remaining people talk about how the Elder calls Joo-hee all the time these days – it must be a ploy to get Do-ha to take on the mantle. Seung-tae warns Ji-hoon to be aware, and on his toes, everyone knows that he’s in a bit of time out after losing money to Big Mouse. Meanwhile, Do-ha prints out a picture from the movie.

Later, Ji-hoon and Prosecutor Joong-rak make a deal to get rid of Big Mouse and recruits Jerry, who is having a domestic with Chang-ho at the moment. Thanks to the deal, however, he gets out of prison but not before handing Chang-ho a spiked drink. The background of the deal is rather sad, and although he honestly had no choice, you feel a tad bit heartbroken to see the stab to the back.
Outside the prison, Jerry realises that he has done something bad when an ambulance rushes out of prison. Thankfully, Mi-ho and Gi-gwang get there just in time and the three of them catch up to the ambulance when they realise that they are not taking him to a hospital. Mi-ho forces the guards to take him to a hospital, much to their dismay.
As Chang-ho is unconscious, the guard takes his fingerprint on a bail application and gives it to Ji-hoon, who asks the guard not to make too much fuss with Mi-ho there. Later, Mi-ho meets Chang-ho, and they share a rare tender moment amid the chaos.
The next day, as he is taken back to the prison, Chang-ho realises that he’s not on the path to the penitentiary. No sooner does he have that thought than the guards try to drug him, and after they are successful, they take him to Jiseong Mental Centre. Once inside, he is taken down a blindingly white hallway to a room which already has his name on the nameplate.

Another week and another episode where we get so close to the truth but never reach that point! Big Mouth is taking us on a crazy ride. I was with the show throughout the runtime, especially with that camera in the Mary statue. I thought Jerry would come out of the prison, and we’ll see another side of him. But I have a feeling he’s not our guy. However, I do hope to see Kwak Dong-yeon in future episodes; it’d be a shame if we don’t see him anymore.
Unfortunately, I feel like the ending was a bit much. I get spiking drinks and trying to murder people in prison. But taking the man to a psych hospital is a bit much, personally. The preview for the next episode promises the story to get wilder, and I am a bit apprehensive about how wild it’s going to get after this.
Up until now, I believed what Chang-ho was going through and empathised with him. But, in this episode, that last few minutes felt just a smidge much. I hope the next episode gets rid of the ridiculous psych hospital trope and gets back to the story at hand.
