Recap Korean Drama "Behind Every Star 2022" Episode 8

Dec 8, 2022

With 60% shares of Method, Behind Every Star episode 8 starts with Hae-jun becoming the majority shareholder and, in turn, the president of the company. Reactions are mixed, especially when new changes are introduced and promised to be implemented. Hae-jun looks a bit cocky in his discussion with the team, but Tae-oh is the one who looks the most annoyed.

Anyway, Hae-jun tells his team as the first order of defence that he wants them to poach Kim Ji-hoon from Star Media after the disaster from the last episode. The others aren’t on-board with the idea at first, but a short fight between Tae-oh and Jane results in her promising to get Ji-hoon onboard by hook or by crook.

As Hee-sun’s failed acting career catches up to Jung-don and Hae-jun changes him as her agent, Jane remains heartbroken about her failed relationship with Sang-uk. On the other hand, Hyun-joo strikes up a friendship with Sunny.

Meanwhile, brainstorming for ways to get close to Ji-hoon and failing to come up with something interesting, Jane finally gets some information on the actor’s whereabouts and ambushes him at his gym. The talk doesn’t go well at first, and he dismisses her for being dull, but a not-so-subtle mention of him not choosing to do a film finally has some impact on him.

Back at the office, Hae-jun goes all out to shake things up in the company – creating a talent creation team and asking to create new talent, as well as pushing Jin-hyeok and Hyun-joo to become the managers. Again, the meeting brings about mixed signals, but one thing is for certain, Hae-jun makes for one interesting boss with not one dull moment.

Plus, for the higher management, he promises to give 10 million won to the person who makes the highest contribution. That gets everyone’s attention – most are unable to utter a word afterwards! The senior agents start to get to work in order to reel Ji-hoon in, but without being overtly insistent about it.

Their search for subtle paths leads them to Won-jae and they use him to let impart the information about Star Media putting down offers on his behalf. The sting operation goes well, but her rather celebratory attitude turns to heartbreak when she finds Sang-uk in front of her at the bar. Their budding conversation, wherein he too looks rather interested, is cut short when Ji-hoon calls her, and she chooses work once more over her ex-boyfriend. He promptly walks out, probably realising that he will never come first.

Meanwhile, Hyun-joo goes out for drinks with Sunny and invariably blurts out insider information about the team, calling Myung-aeh a slacker. Jane, on the other hand, meets Ji-hoon, and they share some heart-to-heart conversations with each other, even though he mentions that he will not be joining any agency for the time being. The next day, she delivers the good news to the others while everyone reminds her not to make things personal with the actor.

The meeting, unfortunately, doesn’t go as planned, and in the midst of her conversation with Ji-hoon, Gi-bong crashes the party and tells the actor everything. At the end of it, a frustrated Jane throws wine at the Star Media boss, asks Ji-hoon to follow his heart and, outside, screams at Hae-jun for constantly poking where it hurts.

The next day at work, Tae-oh gets the news that Eun-ha is selling the house, making him rush out in anger. Meanwhile, Hae-jun, absolutely furious at her behaviour, asks Jane to leave the company. While she is processing this information, however, she gets a call from Ji-hoon, who agrees to join Method – earning her the job back.

However, someone is getting fired though, and they get to know who when they get back to Hae-jun’s room. He asks Myung-aeh to leave the company and only work as an advisor, resulting in the others thoroughly opposing it. However, the decision has been made, and she eventually does leave, resulting in everyone being left to cry at her departure.

Later on, Eun-soo takes the help of emergency services to break into Tae-oh’s home, fearing the worst.  As it turns out, the manager was simply listening to music while taking a bath! Afterwards, he tends to a wound on her arm, and she seizes this opportunity to tell him her feeling for him, resulting in the two of them kissing each other.

With Hae-jun’s arrival, Method Entertainment isn’t the only place that has been shaken up; so are we. His absolutely unpredictable behaviour suits the kind of roles that he does, and his being dashingly charismatic definitely helps. Plus, we also got to see Kim Ji-hoon, and for anyone who has seen Flower of Evil, well, you guys know what I am talking about.

It’s a great episode otherwise as well, wins tons of things happening and the story progressing in an arresting way. That last odd twist was a bit much, but hey, I guess it’s better than nothing at this point. Tae-oh sleeping while his door is being broken down is oddly hilarious while I find Hee-sun’s storyline to be rather unnecessary. Maybe it will add to something in the end, I don’t know. But at this point, I find myself wanting to skip her moments.
