Recap Korean Drama "Adamas" Episode 9

Adamas episode 9 starts with a tense conversation between Woo-sin and Hye-soo wherein she asks him why he wants to save Lee Chang-woo – what is his relationship with him? Later on, he gets a text from Mr Jeong, giving her the address of something she had asked for. Meanwhile, Woo-sin and Dong-rim discuss stealing the Adamas during the 80th-anniversary celebration.

On the other hand, as Hye-soo goes out, Ms Oh asks her where she is going and reports back to Ms Kwon, who immediately gets testy about it. When the latter goes to shave Chairman Kwon, she further mentions that Woo-sin has ulterior motives and that he’s here to research for his upcoming book. She elaborates that he’s writing about Min-jo’s death and that she tried her best to stop him from doing so.

However, this is clearly a sensitive topic, and Jae-kyu immediately gets defensive and asks her whether she thinks that he killed his own son. He continues to try to convince her that he would never harm his own son and that he’s disappointed that she, of all people, would think something like this. Ms Kwon looks mortified and gets on her knees to beg for forgiveness and tells him that she is just trying to shield him from being used by Woo-sin since the chairman is quite fond of the writer. Enraged, Jae-kyu threatens her to watch what she says if she also wants to be treated well.

Meanwhile, Hyun-jo, rehearsing his acceptance speech, thinks back to the time when Min-jo had told him that he was offered Haesong but he turned it down after learning the truth about Chang-woo. In a short conversation between the two brothers, it is clear that Min-jo was a man of principle unlike his older brother. As he refuses to bend to Hyun-jo demands of sweeping the killing under the rug, Hyun-jo mumbles after his brother’s departure that even though their father can’t harm him, he always can.

On the other hand, Sun is keeping an eagle eye out for Soo-hee after Su-hyeon’s alleged death. She threatens Hyuk-pil to expose everyone and everything if they don’t take her to him, and they comply with her request and take her to a bunker where Ms Lee tells her that they pronounced Su-hyeon dead so Team A won’t try to murder him anymore. As they go up hidden passageways to the safehouse, Su-hyeon wakes up remembering Sun.

The two discuss Mr Baek and Gong Dae-chul’s death and how, if they don’t see this through, their deaths would be for nothing. Su-hyeon tells Ms Lee about Sun and whether the name rings a bell and she immediately recognises her. Meanwhile, Sun successfully figures out the secret tunnel and where the entryway is located. Su-hyeon and Seo-hee, trying to figure out what is going on, escape out of the house, with Ms Lee hot on their tails.

Meanwhile, Woo-sin gets invited to the anniversary ceremony and comes back to the study to find Ms Kwon waiting for him. She asks him how he always gets to have his way – is he lucky or truly talented? Woo-sin continues to feign ignorance to all of her questions, and when she asks him how he got to know about her son, he tells her that Min-jo had given him all of the preliminary information, and he made up the rest.

He asks her why she didn’t tell the chairman about the other novel, and she gets even angrier, and tells him the chairman doted on Hoon before huffing off. Woo-sin notes that she is probably seeing some hope because this is the first time she has taken her son’s name. Meanwhile, an angry Ms Kwon goes to Tae-sung to ask for the power saw. He looks like he’s seeing a ghost as he looks around, wondering what is going on.

She does get her hands on the saw, and as Hye-soo and Ms Oh look on, she cuts down the tree in front of her room, from where Hoon hung himself. Hye-soo hilariously wonders whether she has finally lost her mind. Meanwhile, Su-cheol’s plan of leaking the news that Ms Jang has the Adamas seem to be working as Team A gets to work to take care of the issue.

In the meantime, Su-cheol goes into investigation mode inside ARES after sending a prosecutor after Leader Lee. However, another Lee meets the prosecutor while Su-cheol follows a bunch of men going somewhere looking rather tense. In a tense moment, Su-cheol tries to follow them into the parking lot but gets stopped from learning what the big cars are for.

He gets out after making an excuse, and later, he and Soo-hee follow the cars as they go out in the street. Meanwhile, Chang-woo beats his head open on the wall.

At Ms Jang’s house, Leader Lee gets the Adamas from her while Su-hyeon tries to climb her house. He successfully does so just in time to see Leader Lee take the box and leave. Outside, he tells Section Chief Jung to take care of everything. Inside, Su-hyeon investigates the house and finds Ms Jang’s hanging dead body.

Trying to take her down, he falls on a glass vase with the body alerting everyone outside. Su-hyeon makes a run for it but is seen soon after. Although he’s badly injured, he still perseveres (because the only other option is death at this point) and runs down the streets with everyone hot on his trail. Seo-hee finds him just in time to hide him, but both are eventually seen again.

Just as it seems like they will be caught, however, they run into Hye-soo’s car, who looks equally baffled to find them there. As they drive away, the entire incident gets caught on CCTV. In the car, Hye-soo, Su-hyeon and Seo-hee get acquainted with each other in a rather tense conversation where everyone is wary of everyone else. However, Hye-soo looks quite shaken up when she learns that Ms Jang was murdered and later wonders why Woo-sin didn’t share anything with her.

Back at HQ, Hyuk-pil tells Su-cheol that Woo-sin’s scheme ended in Ms Jang’s death. However, the prosecutor isn’t having it. According to him, if this were related to Woo-sin, Team A would’ve used her as an example and not hushed everything up. They go back and forth regarding whether they should stop going after the Adamas, but the conversation remains unfinished when the power suddenly goes out.

As Su-hyeon moves towards the safe house, Sun makes a sudden entrance into the safe house and promptly stabs Ms Lee to death. As a terrified Seo-hee calls and begs Su-hyeon to save him, he runs down the corridor to her while Sun beats her unconscious. On the other hand, Chang-woo finally gets to talk to Leader Lee, who informs him that Su-hyeon is dead.

Adamas Episode 9 Ending

At Haesong, Woo-sin finally shares his plan with Tae-sung – he’s going to get caught to go through the retrial he has been begging for so long. It won’t involve him and his brother getting arrested, and there would be nothing for Haesong to do.

But the real drama is taking place in prison – Lee Jun-kyung asks Chang-woo where the real Adamas is being hidden. Chang-woo taunts him, asking whether he lost it on the fated night, but Leader Lee isn’t having any of it and asks him the location of the real Adamas.

At Haesong, Security Guard Kim finds Tae-sung’s satellite phone.
