The Commissioner further revealed that they booked 53 people for drug-related charges at Burning Sun and other clubs, seven of whom were imprisoned. 15 people were booked and four people were arrested for using and/or distributing drugs at Burning Sun, and 29 people were booked and two people were arrested for doing the same at other clubs. Nine people were booked and one person was arrested for distributing the date rape drug Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB).
On the other hand, an arrest warrant was rejected for Lee Moon Ho, the Burning Sun CEO who tested positive for drugs. Seungri, who was revealed to be one of the three initial investors of Burning Sun and also worked as an executive director, is still being investigated.
Seungri is strongly denying most allegations facing him including the allegations of providing prostitution services for foreign investors, bribing police officers to cover up criminal activities, tax evasion and embezzlement with club Monkey Museum, habitually gambling abroad, drug usage, spreading illegally taken photos, and more.
The latest charge made against Seungri was for violating the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act, an anti-corruption law that prohibits individuals from giving and receiving bribes, by gifting Senior Superintendent Yoon three BIGBANG concert tickets.
Regarding this, Commissioner Won Kyung Hwan said, “We are tracing back bank accounts and financial records of Senior Superintendent Yoon and other allegedly corrupt police officers, conducting a search and seizure of golf clubs and offices, and reviewing call records to investigate employees who have at least once exchanged a phone call or met [with Seungri].”
He concluded, “We have acknowledged the public’s criticism that we have been making slow progress with the investigation to uncover corruption within the police. Even if it takes time, we will continue to give regular reports on the investigation progress to show that we are carrying out a fair and transparent investigation.”
