On March 18, during the press conference at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, a source from the agency stated, “After the Burning Sun incident, we have booked 40 individuals [for drug-related charges]. Among them, we booked 14 Burning Sun employees and jailed three club MDs [merchandisers, also known as promoters]. There are 17 suspects involved in other clubs.”
It was also revealed that nine of these individuals were involved in the distribution of Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB), a drug suspected of being used to rape women.
The source stated, “We have jailed the nine individuals who have not only used drugs, but also distributed them online. In CEO Lee’s case, we will question him as a suspect for distribution and usage of drugs on March 19 at 10:30 a.m.” Including his previous investigations under various divisions, this will be his fifth investigation with the police.
Previously, Lee Moon Ho shared his side of the Burning Sun assault case in an interview. He denied being investigated by the police in the past for the use of illegal drugs, and contested his positive drug test results. He then explained his connection to Club Arena, the club involved in the chatroom controversy, and said that Club Arena and Burning Sun were not related. Additionally, he denied the use of GHB at Burning Sun.
