PD Han Dong Chul Revealed To Be The Highest Paid Employee At YG Entertainment

It has been revealed that producing director (PD) Han Dong Chul receives a higher salary than YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk.

According to the business report released by YG Entertainment on April 2, PD Han Dong Chul received the agency’s highest salary of 900 million won (approximately $791,300) last year. This amount does not include bonuses and only reflects his salary. In comparison, YG Entertainment founder Yang Hyun Suk received 840 million won (approximately $738,500).
During his time at CJ ENM, PD Han Dong Chul succeeded at directing hit survival shows such as “Show Me the Money” and “Produce 101.” After signing with YG Entertainment, he directed “MIXNINE.”
Former MBC PD Kim Min Jong — who directed “Real Men” and “Infinite Challenge” — earned 620 million won (approximately $545,100). PD Jo Seo Yoon received 690 million won (approximately $606,700), and PD Je Young Jae was paid 553 million won (approximately $486,200).
Their salaries were released in accordance with the Capital Disclosure Act. According to the revision of the Capital Disclosure Act, listed companies must disclose the annual salaries of their five highest-paid employees whose salaries exceed 500 million won (approximately $439,600), even if they’re not executive board members.
The salaries of PDs at other entertainment agencies were also released. Former KBS and current CJ ENM PD Na Young Suk earned a salary of 215 million won (approximately $189,000) and a bonus of 3.51 billion won (approximately $3.1 million), bringing his 2018 pay to 3.72 billion won (approximately $3.3 million). He has directed many hit shows, including tvN’s “Youn’s Kitchen 2,” “Journey to the West,” and “Encyclopedia of Useless Facts 3.”
PD Shin Won Ho earned a salary of 99 million won (approximately $87,000) with a bonus of 2.49 billion won (approximately $2.2 million) — which reflects the success of overseas content sales — for directing tvN drama “Prison Playbook.”
