OCN’s upcoming Saturday-Sunday drama “Chimera” (literal title) is gearing up to premiere this October!
In “Chimera,” which was previously known under the working title “Chemistry,” a present-day case is found to be related to an explosion and series of murders in 1984 known as the Chimera Incident. The story follows the main characters as they track down the criminal and uncover the secrets between the two cases. “Chimera” is helmed by director Kim Do Hoon, who previously led “The Moon Embracing the Sun,” with a script by Lee Jin Mae, who has written “Ex-Girlfriend Club.” Recently, the drama announced that it will be premiering on October 30.
The Chimera is a fire-breathing hybrid creature from Greek mythology with the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and a tail that is a snake. Just the title itself hints at the overwhelming scale of the accidental explosion that took place in the story, giving a taste of the suspenseful nature of the drama.
Park Hae Soo, who showcased his impressive acting on Netflix’s “Squid Game” and tvN’s “Prison Playbook,” will once again exhibit his powerful action skills as he takes on the role of violent crimes detective Cha Jae Hyun who is a perfectionist when it comes to investigations.
Claudia Kim, who received love from all over the globe for her roles in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” will be playing the profiler Yoo Jin, who once worked for the FBI after being adopted by an American family at a young age. She’s expected to captivate viewers with her immersive acting and powerful presence.
Lee Hee Joon, who took on a variety of roles through the dramas “Mouse” and “Mistress” as well as the film “The Man Standing Next,” will be transforming into doctor Lee Joong Yeob who was adopted by a British family at a young age but comes back to Korea after becoming a doctor – only to get caught up in mysterious incidents.
A source from OCN stated, “Since we’re returning with a classic mystery thriller that OCN viewers prefer, we’ll showcase exquisite directing and refreshing characters that maximize immersion, so please look forward to it a lot. In addition to ‘Chimera,’ which will premiere on October 30, there’s a diverse lineup prepared including ‘Superior Day’ (literal title), which is scheduled to premiere in the first half of next year, so viewers can look forward to that.”
“Chimera” is slated to premiere October 30 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
