In a recent interview and pictorial for Singles magazine, Lee Joon Gi and Kim Ji Eun talked about their new drama “Again My Life“!
“Again My Life” is an SBS fantasy revenge drama about a talented prosecutor who gets a second chance at justice after failing to bring down a powerful individual. Lee Joon Gi stars as Kim Hee Woo, a passionate prosecutor who was unjustly killed while investigating a corrupt politician, but who unexpectedly gets a second chance at life and travels back 15 years into the past to set things right. Kim Ji Eun stars as Kim Hee Ah, a genius chaebol heiress with firm convictions.
Lee Joon Gi shared that he has a lot in common with his character, noting, “I’m really similar to Kim Hee Woo in terms of our core disposition and character, even the way we enjoy getting physical. Maybe that’s why, but I felt a mental connection [to the character] from early on.”
However, despite his similarities to the character, Lee Joon Gi was initially hesitant to accept the role when it was first offered to him, as he worried that it might be too similar to other roles he’s played in the past. Fortunately, the director managed to change his mind—and the actor expressed his gratitude to the drama’s cast and crew for helping him bring something new to the part.
“I really spend a lot of time conversing with the director on the filming set,” said Lee Joon Gi. “As we diligently ponder together, we end up finding new directions. I think I’m able to keep moving forward bit by bit thanks to my fellow actors, the director, and the staff, all of whom have been pondering [these questions] together with me.”
He went on to add, “If viewers feel like their lives are even the slightest bit glossier or happier after seeing this drama, I think I’ll be able to feel a greater sense of achievement than ever before.”
Meanwhile, leading lady Kim Ji Eun expressed confidence in the drama and its story.
“‘Again My Life’ has a well-woven story about good and evil, as well as growth, within the genre of ‘fantasy action,'” said the actress. “I think that the premise of facing reality within fantasy allows [the drama] to convey an even greater sense of hope.”
Finally, Lee Joon Gi touched on his long-term goals as an actor, remarking, “My heroes are the veteran actors who are able to work in good health for a long time. I think I need to keep a clear mind and maintain my values while looking back on the many years they’ve spent [in the industry].”
