Lee Ji Ah has shared her thoughts on her upcoming tvN drama “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise”!
Penned by “The Penthouse” writer Kim Soon Ok and helmed by “One the Woman” director Choi Young Hoon, “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” is a new revenge drama about a woman who comes to realize that her picture-perfect life is not what it seems.
Lee Ji Ah will star as Hong Tae Ra, a woman who has lost her memories but otherwise seems to have it all, with a life that anyone would envy. When her wealthy and successful husband Pyo Jae Hyun (played by Lee Sang Yoon) decides to run for president, Hong Tae Ra also finds herself entering the spotlight. However, when her memories begin to return, Hong Tae Ra realizes that her seemingly perfect life is actually a fabrication orchestrated by someone else as part of a devious grand plan.
Looking back on how she made the decision to reunite with writer Kim Soon Ok, Lee Ji Ah recalled, “The script was so good that the moment I started reading it, I felt like I was becoming captivated by the character of Hong Tae Ra.”
She added, “I’d also heard lots of good things about how talented director Choi Young Hoon is, so there was no reason for me not to do the drama.”
Describing her experience on the filming set, Lee Ji Ah shared, “The director always takes the entire cast and crew into consideration, as well as the situation on set, before finding the best solution possible. The writer also gives us a sense of trust and respect through the drama. I feel thankful for the great script and direction, as well as the opportunity to work with such wonderful staff members.”
The actress also revealed, “I spent a lot of time pondering how I can find a new way of expressing Hong Tae Ra or some new point to distinguish her character, and I discussed [these questions] a lot with the director, writer, and staff.”
Finally, Lee Ji Ah expressed complete confidence in “Pandora: Beneath the Paradise.”
“Just like they often say, I believe that a great production is made when the writer, director, and cast all mesh well together,” she explained. “[The cast and crew of] our drama really mesh well together, so I think the viewers will be able to feel that harmony and tight-knit bond. I think that’s what sets our drama apart.”
“Pandora: Beneath the Paradise” will premiere on March 11 at 9:10 p.m. KST.
