MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Chief Detective 1958” has dropped new stills of Lee Je Hoon!
“Chief Detective 1958” will serve as a prequel to the classic Korean series “Chief Inspector,” which ran for 18 years from 1971 to 1989 and achieved incredible peak ratings of 70 percent.
While the original show was set in the 1970s and 1980s (present day at the time), “Chief Detective 1958” will be set even earlier in the 1960s. Lee Je Hoon will be playing a younger version of the titular chief inspector Park Young Han, who was played by Choi Bool Am in the original series. The drama also stars Lee Dong Hwi, Choi Woo Sung, and Yoon Hyun Soo as members of Park Young Han’s squad.
The newly released stills capture Park Young Han, who just arrived in Seoul in 1958 with only a suitcase. Although he appears to be somewhat clumsy, Park Young Han is an impregnable detective with the highest arrest rate for petty thieves.
He is a character with composure and slyness who never loses his smile even in dangerous situations in which he has to pull out a pistol.
The production team remarked, “Viewers can look forward to the passionate acting of Lee Je Hoon, who will portray the young Park Young Han in a new way. The exciting performances of detective Park Young Han and his three colleagues as well as the charm of old-fashioned investigation filled with joy will provide thrilling fun.”
“Chief Detective 1958” is set to premiere on April 19 at 9:50 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!
