Knight Flower (2024) K Drama Episode 2

Jan 16, 2024

Episode 2 of Knight Flower begins with Merchant Jang disguising Yeo-hwa in a pink outfit. A flashback shows Yeo-hwa’s older brother teaching her how to fight. Their parents are dead. He goes on a mission and goes missing. Her uncle marries her off but her husband dies on the wedding day.

At present, Su-ho says he is an officer. Yeo-hwa’s wrist is exposed and he sees the cut from the gambling scuffle. He realises that she is the masked woman. Pil’s guards show up and they bargain over Ggotnim. Yeo-hwa ends up giving 500 coins and runs off with her. Su-ho follows even when she throws her shoe at him.

Jang’s man bumps into him and he loses her. Pil shows up and Su-ho gets deja vu as if he has seen him somewhere. But before the situation can escalate, his older brother shows up and rescues him. Meanwhile, Merchant Jang employs Ggotnim. At home, Yeo-hwa realises Su-ho is the man from the gambling scuffle and decides to avoid him.

As for Su-ho, he keeps her shoe as evidence. He also wonders why Pil, who is into illegal dealings, isn’t scared of officials. Commander Hwang is forced to cut Su-ho’s salary for Yeom’s gold toad and reparations of Pil Inn. His daughter, Yi-kyung suddenly shows up and is smitten with Su-ho.

Ggotnim figures the masked woman is Yeo-hwa and thanks her for her help. In the palace, the King does whatever Seok tells him. Just as Su-ho heads to Minister Yeom’s with the gold toad, he sees the minister beat an old man for spilling water on a tiger painting of his.

The news spreads till it reaches Yeo-hwa who is furious. She sends food for the old man. Even Bi-chan is angry but Su-ho is indifferent. However, he secretly sends a doctor for the old man. Next, Su-ho finds Ggotnim at Myungdo Inn but she refuses to reveal who saved her. Merchant Jang interrupts and he questions her about the masked woman. She acts ignorant and says she doesn’t know much.

It cuts Yeo-hwa trying to escape from the shrine but Yeon-sun has locked her in for being reckless. However, she easily tricks Yeon-sun and escapes. At the palace, the King and Yoon-hak sneak notes into books about finding something in the Jeolla province. As they talk, it is revealed that Yoon-hak lost his wife 10 years ago.

Meanwhile, Yeo-hwa secretly replaces Yeom’s tiger painting with her own doodle. Su-ho realises the masked woman as she also left rice for the old man. He finds it hilarious but Commander Hwang tells him to catch the thief as it is a case of dignity. Elsewhere, Yeon-sun berates Yeo-hwa for putting herself at risk again.

In the market, Pil beats a peddler for misunderstanding. Jang stops in and it seems that have some rivalry. They trade harsh words but he stops on seeing Madam Oh. She tells him to find the painting and he thinks of a way to find it while also taking over Jang’s in, Myungdo.

Madam Yoo finally makes an appearance, making Yeo-hwa work day and night so she cannot visit her brother’s shrine. However, Seok gives her permission along with two sacks of rice as an offering. A flashback shows Yeo-hwa writing a letter to her missing brother, Sung-hoo to help stop her marriage. He responds by leaving a spear sword. She wonders why he cannot return if he is alive.

At the same time, Su-ho visits his parents’ shrine. There is a flashback to some people attacking and killing his parents. He is also injured. The killing blow is done by a masked man who has the same machete as Pil.

Yoon-hak accompanies him grudgingly. But the head monk lets it slip that he has been visiting the Kangs’ shrine for the last 3 years when Su-ho was away.

Yeo-hwa’s retinue is on the way as well when they take a break. Some first-time robbers attack for the rice but Yeo-hwa simply tells them to take it. The Park brothers arrive on the scene and Su-ho tries to stop the robbers. She pretends to be attacked and when he goes to save her they fall. He catches her and they lock eyes.

Elsewhere, Jang gets a letter from Su-ho saying he will catch the masked woman no matter what. The Knight Flower Episode 2 epilogue shows Yeo-hwa drawing the tiger. Meanwhile, Su-ho keeps drawing her eyes on every piece of paper.

The Episode Review

Knight Flower is still on its upward trajectory and its future seems promising if we are to go by episode 2. It is supposed to be a rom-com with an enemies-to-lovers angle but so far it is enjoyable even without the romance angle. Yeo-hwa keeps exceeding expectations from teaching Yeom a hilarious lesson to letting the hungry robbers steal from her.

We are also getting a slight mystery angle which now has become the norm for all K-dramas no matter the genre. What is the King up to in Jeolla and is it linked to Yeo-hwa’s brother? Then there is the rivalry between Pil and Jang. And if we are not wrong, it seems that Pil is the one who attacked Su-ho and killed his parents.
