tvN’s upcoming drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” has released posters that tease the characters’ relationships!

Based on a popular webtoon, the upcoming drama is directed by Jung Ji In, known for “The Red Sleeve.” Set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War, the series follows Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri), a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor. The show explores Jeong Nyeon’s journey through competition, teamwork, and personal growth amid a difficult era for the nation.

Kim Tae Ri plays Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a young talent in traditional Korean opera who moves alone from Mokpo to Seoul to pursue her dreams. Shin Ye Eun stars as Heo Yeong Seo, the top trainee at the Maeran Women’s Gukguek-dan, known for her exceptional skills and influential family background. Ra Mi Ran’s character Kang So Bok is the strong and charismatic leader of the troupe. Jung Eun Chae, as Moon Ok Kyung, and Kim Yoon Hye, as Seo Hye Rang, are the troupe’s leading performers, with Moon Ok Kyung specializing in male roles and Seo Hye Rang in female roles.

Newly released posters provide a look at the intriguing relationships between the main characters: Jeong Nyeon, Yeong Seo, So Bok, Ok Kyung, and Hye Rang. The posters showcase a vibrant mix of the Maeran troupe’s stars, designed to evoke the cover visuals of a 1950s literary magazine.

The first poster featuring Jeong Nyeon and Yeong Seo stands out. Dressed in trainee uniforms and standing back-to-back while staring straight ahead, they convey a strong sense of tension. The tagline, “You are my only rival and friend,” adds depth to their relationship, suggesting a story of growth that goes beyond simple rivalry.

Another poster showcases the mentor-student relationship between Jeong Nyeon and So Bok, the leader of the Maeran troupe. So Bok’s supportive hand on Jeong Nyeon’s shoulder signals high expectations. Despite her graceful appearance, So Bok’s intense gaze hints at her strict nature. Jeong Nyeon, although smiling brightly, can’t completely hide her nervousness, resulting in an endearing, awkward smile.

Another poster, showing Ok Kyung and Hye Rang, creates a tense atmosphere. Hye Rang’s gaze is fixed on Ok Kyung, while Ok Kyung, with her back to Hye Rang, stares into the distance with a thoughtful expression. The tagline, “From now on, this stage belongs only to you and me,” underscores Hye Rang’s intense drive and obsession to dominate the Korean opera scene, adding to the overall tension.
