KBS has suspended Kim Sae Ron, Shinhwa’s Shin Hye Sung and Ravi following their recent controversies.
On April 21, KBS’s Broadcast Appearance Regulation Review Committee revealed their decision to suspend Kim Sae Ron and Shin Hye Sung from all their broadcasts. This committee holds screenings for celebrities who have caused social controversy with illegal or immoral conduct and decides whether to restrict their appearances on KBS.
Last May, Kim Sae Ron was booked on charges of drunk driving. Earlier this month, Kim Sae Ron was sentenced to a fine of 20 million won (approximately $15,200) on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), which she chose not to appeal.
Last October, Shinhwa’s Shin Hye Sung was arrested for drunk driving and refusing to take a breathalyzer test. He was also charged with illegal use of a vehicle. Earlier this week, Shin Hye Sung was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for one year of probation.
Additionally, Ravi has been temporarily restricted from KBS as his trial is ongoing for charges of violating the Military Service Act. Most recently, the prosecution requested a two-year prison sentence for Ravi. KBS has also discontinued replays of Ravi’s episodes of KBS’s “2 Days & 1 Night Season 4” on their official website, Wavve, and other OTT (over-the-top) platforms.
