TVING’s original series “Island” has finally announced its upcoming premiere!
Based on a webtoon of the same name, “Island” is a fantasy exorcism drama that takes place on Jeju Island. It depicts the sorrowful and bizarre journey of the characters who are fated to fight evil that is trying to destroy the world. The drama will be helmed by director Bae Jong of “Welcome to Dongmakgol” and “Fabricated City.”
On October 6, it was announced that “Island” is set to premiere in December. The star-studded lineup of cast members including Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon was previously confirmed in 2021.
Kim Nam Gil will be playing Pan, a tragic character who confronts evil in preparation for the world’s end but can’t be together with humans. Lee Da Hee will take on the role of third-generation chaebol and teacher Won Mi Ho. Unaware of her fate, Won Mi Ho unwillingly begins a self-reflection period on Jeju Island. Cha Eun Woo will be transforming into the hip Catholic exorcist and priest named John who has a noble calling of protecting lives and purifying evil. However, he’s also a figure who harbors a horrible and dark past. Sung Joon will be taking on the role Goong Tan, who was raised to take care of evil with Pan. However, after a fateful event, Goong Tan begins to oppose Pan, adding an exhilarating twist and suspense to the story.
