Upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “The Fiery Priest 2” has unveiled more stills of Kim Nam Gil!
SBS’s “The Fiery Priest,” which first aired in 2019 and recorded a peak viewership rating of 22.0 percent, is about a Catholic priest with anger management issues and a cowardly detective as they work together to solve a murder case. Kim Nam Gil, Lee Ha Nee, Kim Sung Kyun, and more from Season 1 will be reprising their roles in the upcoming season.
Kim Hae Il’s (Kim Nam Gil’s) explosive outburst during a scene centered around a holy meal has grabbed attention. In the stills, members of the Gudam group gather at the Gudam Cathedral restaurant to enjoy a peaceful meal. However, the mood shifts when Kim Hae Il, sitting atop a kimchi refrigerator, watches Goo Dae Young (Kim Sung Kyun), Oh Yo Han (Go Kyu Pil), Ssong Sak (Ahn Chang Hwan), Sister Kim (Baek Ji Won), and Father Han (Jeon Seong Woo) before unexpectedly snapping, leaving everyone stunned.
Later, Kim Hae Il enters the sanctuary alone at midnight, kneels in front of a portrait of the late Father Lee Young Joon (Jung Dong Hwan), and, overcome with emotion, sheds tears as he mourns. This raises questions about the reasons behind his unusual behavior.
Kim Nam Gil shines in both comedic and dramatic scenes, adding depth to the drama. In the restaurant scene with the Gudam Avengers members, he delivers a hilarious outburst, while in a lone church scene, he exudes powerful charisma. His dynamic acting has only heightened excitement for the show.
The production team said, “Kim Nam Gil delivers a dynamic performance from the very first episode, amplifying the high-energy, intense, no-backdown investigative tone of Season 2.” They added, “Whether alone or with others, Kim Nam Gil brings a unique presence as Kim Hae Il. We encourage viewers to support his performance, which will captivate them with a variety of scenes that engage both their eyes and ears.”
“The Fiery Priest 2” is set to premiere on November 8 at 10 p.m. KST as the follow-up to “The Judge from Hell.”
