[K-Star]: EXO’s Lay Zhang Wins “Best Male Supporting Actor” At The 25th Huading Awards

After breaking records and setting new milestones on QQ Music with his new album Honey on June 11, EXO’s Lay Zhang brought home another trophy and added a new achievement under his name on June 12 — this time, for acting.
The singer-songwriter, who also actively pursues an acting career, received the Best Male Supporting Award at the 25th Huading Awards held at the Broadway Theatre in Macau. The EXO member was recognized for his stellar performance in the box office hit movie The Island which opened in August 2018.
In the film, Lay Zhang played Xao Xing, Ma Jin’s goofy best budy. The singer-songwriter headlined the film with fellow Go Fighting! cast member Huang Bo who played Ma Jin and also directed the film
Lay Zhang’s Best Male Supporting Actor nod at the 25th Huading Awards marks his second award for his portrayal in The Island after he was named Most Popular Supporting Actor at the Guangzhou College Student Film Festival last year.
In his speech, the EXO member promised to work hard and make better works in the future. He then relayed his gratitude for the award.
Lay Zhang has starred in various film and television productions. He debuted in the big screen with a supporting role in Ex-Files 2. He went on to appear in films such as Oh My God, Kung Fu Yoga, and The Founding of an Army. The singer-actor also took significant roles in dramas To Be A Better Man, The Mystic Nine, Operation Love, The Golden Eyes, and Empress of the Ming.
As an actor, Lay Zhang has received the acting awards from various award-giving bodies for his performances in films and television series.
In 2016, he was named Best Supporting Actor at the 4th China Britain Film Festival for Ex-Files 2: The Backup Strikes Back. He also received recognition at the 2nd China Television Drama Quality Ceremony and the CCTV Flowers in the May Gala.
