JYP Entertainment Warns Against Chinese Company Pretending To Be Affiliated With Agency
Apr 26, 2019
JYP Entertainment (hereafter JYP) has warned people about a company in China pretending to be a part of the agency to receive funding under false pretenses.
On April 26, JYP posted a notice through its official Weibo account about a company that is pretending to be a subsidiary under the agency and asking for money for a fake program that lets participants experience the training process idols go through in Korea.
The following is the official statement from JYP:
Recently, a post circulated online that a company has been asking for training fees for a so-called “JYP training experience” program in Korea. This is a serious act that defames the reputation and image of JYP and its artists. We have gathered evidence and have all the rights to take legal action.
Furthermore, we would like to announce the following statements:
1. JYP Entertainment and its subsidiaries [directly] oversee auditions and carry out the training, and we do not ask for a fee of any kind.
2. JYP Entertainment and its subsidiaries do not provide programs such as a program that lets participants experience idol training in Korea, a summer camp, a short-term training program on behalf of a third party, and more.
3. Information about auditioning for JYP Entertainment and JYP China are published and distributed only through accounts @JYPnation and @JYPChina_Audition, and any other information from sources [aside from these two accounts] is not true.
We firmly stand by these statements. Please take caution to protect yourself from being scammed.
