The preparatory hearing for his charges of illegally filming and sharing footage of sexual acts will reportedly take place on May 10 at 11 a.m. KST.
At a preparatory hearing, the court determines the course that will be taken to prove whether the defendant is guilty or not, based on the defendant’s position. The defendant is not required to attend.
According to Maeil Business Newspaper, if Jung Joon Young’s side agrees to the use of the evidence presented by the prosecution, official trials will most likely begin within two to three weeks.
Meanwhile, the police have investigated another victim of sexual assault besides “A,” who testified that she was sexually assaulted by five people who are members of the controversial group chatrooms including Jung Joon Young and Choi Jong Hoon.
According to a police source, they are currently not only investigating Jung Joon Young’s case of filming and spreading illegally filmed footage, but also looking into other KakaoTalk messages that brought forward suspicions of multiple-perpetrator sexual assault. The source added, “Because the victim is female, we arranged for the Women’s and Juvenile Affairs Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency to investigate her.”
Previously, the police found photos and a voice recording related to “A” in the group chatroom including Jung Joon Young and Choi Joon Young.
As they have gathered enough evidence to prove that either aggravated rape or quasi-rape happened, the police will officially begin investigating the case when “A” files a bill of complaint.
