Jung Gun Joo has shared his thoughts on his upcoming SBS drama “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse”!
Based on the hit web novel of the same name, “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” is a mystery romance about an unconventional boarding house and three students who stay there as lodgers. Shin Ye Eun will star as Yoon Dan Oh, the owner of boarding house Yihwawon, while Ryeo Woon, Kang Hoon, and Jung Gun Joo will play three “flower scholars” who rent rooms—and are each hiding their own secrets.
Jung Gun Joo will play Jung Yoo Ha, a sensitive and clever scholar who harbors hidden emotional wounds.
Explaining why he was drawn to “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” and his role in particular, Jung Gun Joo recalled, “One of the genres I’d always wanted to try doing is historical dramas. And if you look at the character of Jung Yoo Ha, he’s strong-willed, but he also has a lot of [emotional] pain. If you look at him closely, he has a very soft side, and I really wanted to portray that aspect of him.”
When asked to sum up his character, Jung Gun Joo described him with the phrase “warm-hearted determination.”
As for how he’s feeling ahead of the drama’s premiere, the actor confessed, “To be honest, I do feel worried, but I’m looking forward to it even more. Please give the drama lots of love and interest.”
Meanwhile, the producers of “The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” praised Jung Gun Joo’s work ethic and attention to detail.
“Jung Gun Joo is an extremely diligent actor who always makes sure his tone of voice and actions match his character in every single thing he does,” they said. “Please enjoy watching Jung Gun Joo put all the acting experience and know-how he’s built up in modern-day dramas to good use in ‘The Secret Romantic Guesthouse.'”
“The Secret Romantic Guesthouse” premieres on March 20 at 10 p.m. KST and will be available on Dramacool.
