JTBC’s “IDOL: The Coup” has announced a “comeback schedule” for its fictional idol groups, Cotton Candy and Mars!
“IDOL: The Coup” is an upcoming drama about idols who have failed to reach stardom and are struggling to let go of their unachieved dreams. Kwak Si Yang stars as Cha Jae Hyuk, the CEO of Starpeace Entertainment, which houses idol groups Cotton Candy and Mars.
EXID’s Hani, LABOUM’s Solbin, WJSN’s Exy, Redsquare’s Green, and Han So Eun star as the five members of Cotton Candy, a girl group who has been active for six years without finding success. Kim Min Kyu, Lee Eun Sang, Hong Eun Ki, Jo Joon Young, and Baek Seo Hoo star as the five members of Mars, a popular boy group.
According to the “comeback” schedules, Mars will be releasing their third album “Cloud 9” on November 1. There will be a highlight audio teaser released on October 31. The schedule includes the premiere date of “IDOL: The Coup” on November 8, suggesting that the actors will actually release a record together for the show.
Unlike “real” idol groups who share an agency, Cotton Candy and Mars are releasing their “albums” on the same date, with Cotton Candy’s first album “White Day” also scheduled for a November 1 release and an October 31 audio teaser.
“IDOL: The Coup” premieres on November 8 at 11 p.m. KST.
