The upcoming film “Firefighters” has dropped new stills featuring Joo Won!

Directed by Kwak Kyung Taek, “Firefighters” captures the authenticity of real-life events by telling the story of firefighters who responded to the fire disaster in the Hongje neighborhood in March 2001. It will vividly depict the urgent situation faced by the team from the Western Fire Station, along with the sweat and tears of firefighters working under challenging conditions, all driven by a singular goal of extinguishing the fire and rescuing everyone.

Joo Won stars as Cheol Woong, a rookie firefighter at Western Fire Station who struggles with basic equipment in high-stakes situations. After losing his close friend Yong Tae (Kim Min Jae) in a fire, Cheol Woong is burdened with guilt. With the support of his colleagues, he works to overcome his grief and grow into his role.

The newly released stills capture Cheol Woong’s anxious yet determined expression, showcasing both the vulnerability and passion of a rookie firefighter. The story builds anticipation as Cheol Woong gains experience at Western Fire Station, gradually proving himself capable of saving lives.

Joo Won shared that his view of firefighters changed while preparing for the film, which is based on the real-life fire tragedy in the Hongje neighborhood. “As a kid, I thought firefighters were just cool—I remember getting excited seeing fire trucks. I had forgotten about that as an adult, but after reading the script, even the sound of a passing siren makes me reflect on firefighters’ dedication and hard work,” he said, describing his connection to the project.

“Firefighters” is set to hit theaters on December 4.
