KBS has shared the first glimpse of Jang Hyuk in “Red Heart” (literal title)!
The upcoming fictional historical drama is about the bloody political romance between Lee Tae (Lee Joon), a king who has to abandon the woman he loves to survive, and Yoo Jung (Kang Han Na), a woman who has to become the queen to survive.
Jang Hyuk plays Park Gye Won, the first vice-premier and the real head of power in Joseon. He has the charisma of a tiger and the intelligence of a scholar. At a young age, he witnessed the tyranny of the king, and he became the head of an organization that successfully dethroned the ruler. As a living symbol of power, everyone obeys him, and he is a “king maker” who resolves to “create a wise and young king with his own hands” so that the foundation of Joseon will not be shaken by tyrants again.
In the new stills, Park Gye Won draws attention with his signature poker face. He’s like a closed book, and it’s hard to read what he’s thinking or feeling. However, despite his unreadable expression, his eyes are fierce, and he shines in his neat and tidy government robes. One photo depicts his sharp jawline and menacing eyes, and he exudes cool charisma, raising questions about what he’s truly like.
The drama’s producers remarked, “In any situation, not only does Jang Hyuk become immersed in his role in an instant, but he also draws admiration with his restrained eyes and facial expressions. In particular, we are very much looking forward to seeing how he will portray the good and evil of his two-faced character. Please watch ‘Red Heart’ to see what kind of new side Jang Hyuk, the genius of transformations, will show us with his explosive acting that gives us goosebumps.”
KBS’s “Red Heart” will air later this year following the conclusion of “Crazy Love.”
